I have no problem with black folks who want to eradicate the use of the word, but if your reasoning is because you think it’ll make whites or other people treat us better then you need to self-evaluate. I don’t use the word much in my everyday life, but I don’t judge people who do.

I also don’t believe it has anything to do with your self pride. If you do your research, many civil rights heroes including MLK used it in private, kicking it with their people. Did they not have a sense of pride?

There are plenty of black people who don’t use the word who wouldn’t give another black person a dollar if they were hungry, while there are plenty of black folks who do use it who would cook you a meal and lift up your spirits.

Same goes for black folks in high positions who wouldn’t give another black man a job. Them not using “nikka” in their daily lexicon doesn’t make them better than the next black man walking down the street.

Self-hate is defined by actions, not words. If you’re walking around thinking a black person is beneath you because they say nikka and you don’t, it sounds like the white man had does more of a number on you than them :mjpls:
Those points are where he veered off course for me. My contention is solely on the regard we have for one another. Like if you saw that thread them guys at the basketball gym with all those guns: Those were cats that think they're "nikkas" bracing for the moment some other "nikkas" try to end them. Yet we continue continue this embrace and act shocked at the results it produces. The likes of Martin would shirk at a lot of the bullshyt going on out here today and the fact that it's done by so many who think they're "nikkas" would arguably be seen as a root cause.

I was listening to a afrobeats song and heard it and immediately was like :scusthov:

don't know why they would choose to use it:why:

edit:

this was the song...

Edit: to fix link

It’s like that in a lot of places cause the culture keeps exporting it

I listen to afrobeats as well and came across it in this song

Side note, there’s certain songs I wish didn’t have it like Kendrick’s HiiiPower

I want everyone who reads this post to ask yourself WHY do you use it? Take a hard look at yourself and ask yourself that question.

I'm willing to bet that the reason you first started using it was to fit in.

Think about it. You're born into a society where literally everywhere you look , the Nword is there. Music, movies, stand up comedy, cartoons, your family and friends.

You looked around one day and realized that people that look like you always say this word. You realized that it was a popular and "cool" word to say.

So , unless your own family drilled it into your head not to use it, you started using it......to simply fit in.

You didn't one day at the age of 12 start researching and say :ohhh: "I'm gonna start calling myself and other black people n1gga as a positive term of endearment to uplift my people " :blessed:

Nope, you simply started using it because you were born in this society where people like you used it and it eventually became a habit after you picked it up to fit in.

The word is degrading and dehumanizing and I wish the average black person who uses it would realize how dumb it makes them sound.

All slang is used to fit in

We all wanna fit in

Exactly. I personally can attest to the fact of using it when upset. It’s a word I’ve tried to eradicate from my library of language.

Had a confrontation with this dude and I called bruh a nikka so vile and harsh that shyt had me questioning myself just as much as I had questioned the opposition. Was way out of character because I was so ready to throw hands or do whatever I would’ve had to do.

Exactly. That's the first word that comes to mind out of anger. Just look around here on the Coli. When posters are upset with each other it's "b1tch nicca", "fukk n1gga", "puzzy nicca" ,etc.

Listen to rap. It's always killing, robbing and stunting on "niccaz".

That word is a literal curse.

It keeps us looking at each other in an INFERIOR manner. It strips us of our humanity towards each other.

And that's most people's problem sadly. By nature, the majority of humans are sheep.

It takes a special person (especially younger the person) to "go against the grain" so to speak. To do what's considered "lame" and unpopular.

It takes a special person to be the only one in his peer group to say "nah, I'm not gonna use the word n1gga" even tho it's considered cool mainly due to rap music.

I respect the hell out of any younger dudes who has the awareness to not use that word.

It's damn near a rite of passage as a black person to use that word and the way it was so smoothly injected into our entertainment, it's damn near impossible to make it to a certain age without subconsciously starting to use it.

The craziest thing about the Nword to me is that it was supposedly adopted by us to "take the power"out of it.

The entire point of calling ourselves and each other "n1gga" was to take the hurt/pain out of the word.

Well the plan failed miserably because in 2022 new videos are still being uploaded constantly of black people crying over being called that word by a racist cac.

Evidently the power was never taken out of the word because we still get hurt when it's used. That word still has power over black people in 2022.

Me personally, I don't identify with the word AT ALL. I actually laugh when I see videos like that because I can't imagine getting into my feelings over that word. Hell, I wish black people would call OTHER GROUPS that word if anything. That's what I would do. Cac calls me a "n1gga" , I'm calling him one back :yeshrug:

Stop calling yourself that and call the next whiteboy you get angry with a "dumb n1gga".

That would be truly flipping the word.

If these other groups wanna use the word, they can be "n1ggaz" too. Thats how I see it.

Y'all all sound low class to me no matter the color. :yeshrug:
