Kpelle tribe in Liberia
Bam- Lake-ee tribe in Cameroon (I don't know how to spell that shyt nor care to tbh)
Bantu Tribe in Zambia

The craziest part is that those are Mande people. They are related to and probably descended from the people that built the great Empires of Ghana, Mali and Songhay.

Akon’s that parent who buys their kid fake Jordan’s and tries to spin it like they’re better than the originals :bryan:

All the cool kids are wearing ‘em!:krs:

Mike probably thought he hailed from somewhere more commercially popular.

Oh word G? That's interesting. SO the mandikas don't dem nikkas fall under the Mande too? Because I remember hearing from black scholars about Abu Bakr who discovered the americas before colombus and I think he was mande too or something I forget it's been a while. But I just remember in that doc Oprah was hurt she wasn't zulu.

You’re right. Then he goes on and on about how his children don’t date other Blacks etc.. It’s weird, because he often roasts “white boys” and looks at them as inferior too. I don’t think that he’s a “self hater” necessarily. Mike is an inspirational, charismatic, and intelligent dude Idk...I’m going to rock with Mike regardless, but I have peeped some c00n-like behavior a few times, breh.

The thing about the quote with his kids if I remember correctly was that he was disappointed they weren't dating other black folks. It certainly contradicts the self-hate theory

Mike is just a weird breh (hard not to be when looking at his upbringing). He's too complicated of a person to be categorized as simply this or that

Mande is like the ethnic group and within that you have the different Mande tribes like soninke, Malinke, bissa etc. Kpelle is one of the Mande tribes.

The founders of sahelian empires were Soninke and Malinke or Mandingo. I think Mansa musa and Abu bakr were Malinke.

A lot of the Mande tribes migrated to the forested/coastal regions of west Africa after the collapse of Mali/Songhai. That’s why you’ll find them I liberia and Sierra Leone now and even Ghana.

Mande means Manden. Manden is the name of homeland of a specific people. Manden is shortened to Mande, to identify the people. When you translate Manden into either Fulani or Arabic it means "Mali."

So when you say that a person is Mande then you are saying that they are from Mali or in Oprah's case her ancestors are from Mali. So she is from Mali.

Abu Bakr was Mandingo. Mandingo just means Mande+ngo (or Mandi +ngo) (or Mande+nka). That "ngo" or "nka" means "people of" or "subjects of" or "citizens of" Manden or Mali. Malinke means the same thing (Mali +nke). It just means that those people are from Mali, except now days Mande people are spread out all over West Africa. Many of them were brought as slaves to the USA and into other ares of the Caribbean and South America.

Other Manden tribes or ethnic groups are Mende, Boko, Bobo, Vai, Susu, Soninke, Malinke, Mandingo, Bambara, Loko, Bissa, Dogon, Kpelle, Maraka/Marka, etc., etc. They controlled trade over the entirety of West Africa at some point and their Mansas (Kings) became fabulously rich (Mansa Musa). In fact Musa came to the throne after Abu Bakr left to see what was on the other side of the ocean. The story of the Mande is very well known, which is where the story of the "Lion King" comes from. That is based upon the life of Sudiata Keita the founder of Mali.

Many groups of Mande started rolling out of Mali at some point. "All of their stories starts the same. They were in Mali chilling and then some shyt went down, so they left." Most of it was just internal strife, but in many cases they settled along the trade routes that the Dyula and Yarse (traders) built across West Africa.

They have an incredibly rich history. They created stuff like the kora, banjo and balafon. They also had griots and they built schools and universities. Modern Mande people are also Presidents in several countries around Mali.

Many were hauled to the Americas as slaves and they brought stuff like rice cultivation, Islam and the Blues to the USA. Matt Schaffer also indicated that they are responsible for the Southern accent.

Many African Americans have ties to the Mande. We already know that Oprah does, but also people like Dr. King, his wife Correta, Maya Angelou and lots of lots of actors and athletes.
