i think people are liberal with youth because they want to explore their new adult freedom & and maybe even protest the culture of their upbringing.

i wasn't meaning political alone, but just experimenting with groups in general. an example of a group kinda being extreme but attracting folks with a legitimate issue might be

rent increases 20%, u join a group to protest but later on find out they believe rent should be completely free forever and no one should have to work.
