Because he does and he is. If Mike Tyson didn't grow up the way he did, he'd probably be a gentle person. But the way he grew up, he had to rely on his survival instincts, which turned him into a monster. And because deep down he is a sensitive and kind guy, he reflects on it and hates himself.
