I'm torn of which one it actually is.
I remember being a fan of Vick during his Atlanta days. His second year in the league he was incredible. He didnt put up huge numbers, but still was impressive. 3000 yards passing/ 700 rushing 20+ total tds. This was in an era before the read option. However, the following years Vick just didnt improve at all. Dude was barely throwing for over 2000 yards, having a 1:1 TD/int ratio and a QB rating in the 70s. I made excuse after excuse for him. Blamed the wrs, blamed the oline, blamed the coach, blamed Gregg Knapp (well....this excuse was valid).
I remember when that dog shyt popped off. Believed the dude was innocent or at least thought he wouldnt be dumb enough to do it at one of the house's.
Matt Ryan goes to the Falcons and he's breaking passing records. Then it turns out that during this time when most of us were defending Vick for not playing better......dude actually wasnt studying or working hard at all.
His first real shot in Philly he balled the fukk out. For the first time ever Vick was living up to his potential. He only played 11 or 12 games that year. But he was on pace to throw for 4000 yards and run for 1000
But in 2011.....he was just "average to good" . Still cant believe he didnt quiet that dream team shyt down from Vince Young
2012 he said the Eagles could be a dynasty
and that he will save Andy Reid's job
. Season was a dumpster fire
2013 he's got the perfect offense, coach and weapons. He plays decent and gets hurt again
. Yet, Nick fukking Foles starts for the exact same squad is breaking records.
Now he backing up Geno Smith
When I say overrated...
He really didnt put up big #s in college either, but I assumed that was cause of the system. Maybe Vick just never really was "that good" He just is what it is. A good QB, who was never really a HOF Quarterback talent. But he's got icon status to a lot of people.
When I say disappointed...
Cause he never worked hard in ATL, but was still effective. He had the greatest combination of speed and arm strength in NFL history. I could see why people thought he could/should have been The GOAT. Vick basically could have been a faster Steve Young.
