Breh.. Draft picks aren't worth that much if you ask me. I see proven good and even GREAT players get traded for 5 rounders all the time. How many 5th rounders are IMPACT players on Your NFL team's roster?

I get what your saying, but It is what it is breh. :yeshrug:

This has always been something that tripped me out about the NFL. Like I actually saw dudes say that the Seattle Jimmy Graham deal wasnt that good cause they gave up a first. What are the odds of drafting someone of Graham's calibre with the 30th fukking pick :russ:.
you dont seem to understand the idea of salary cap. high round picks hold value because you can draft a young beast and pay him peanuts for 3 years.

that particular trade, seattle also gave away Unger, who is a top 4 center in the league, and they became 10m more cash-strapped because they have to pay graham that. that was a king's ransom for a TE who cant block to save his life, essentially a WR.

so again, seahags couldve traded for a WR like and give up only a late draft pick, instead they gave up a boatload for basically a slot WR to play on their run-first squad

his point was that with that contract, mike wallaces trade value was basically zero. instead of releasing him, dolphins getting something in return is already a win

no one is implying mike wallace is = 5th rounder

Yeah but the ODDS OF FINDING SUCH BEAST int the 4th or 5th round is so rare it's like saying i'll trade you my car for a lottery ticket that may or may not win.

Even in the first round you could end up with a first round bust. NFL GMs value picks over proven players for nothing look stupid ESPECIALLY when said GMs will fukk up the pick

It is about the salary cap. Chancing on getting a quality player on the low is worth something.

oh and its not 5th AND 7th rounder

its 5th for wallace and 7th
A 5th rounder and 7 rounder may not make the team, breh. Thats the point I'm trying to make. You have a proven asset traded for what MAY be nothing. I'd prefer to trade Wallace AND picks for Peterson if you asked me. I give almost zero fukks about draft picks who may not make the team. Gimme a player that ha been in the league any day. Twice on sunday.
Perhaps thats why i'm not an NFL GM and on here talking out of my ass with you clones :manny:

who said anything about 5th rounder ?
we were talking about graham and 1st rounder

again, you're stupid if you think dolphins actually think mike wallace's skills equal 5th rounder

mike wallace WITH THAT CONTRACT trade value is zero. dolphins could release him or get a very late draft pick. no one was giving phins any high pick.

the decision wasn't ever between actually keeping wallace and getting a draft pick and trading him. the decision was already made wallace wasnt finna be on the phins with that contract.

WRs with big contracts dont get traded for high picks. from Moss to Boldin to Marshall to Wallace.

again, let me repeat myself

now if you dont understand this, I cant make you understand that :manny:

the decision was between cutting him and getting jack shyt, or trading him for a late rounder.

Doggy i understand that this was a salary dump move. I am NOT necessarily speaking about this specific trade on particular. If you read the first post i made and how the conversation started you'd realize that me and homie were talking about HOW PICKS ARE OVER VALUED in the NFL. Instead you keep focusing on this particular trade and what the Dolphins were trying to do. All of us Dolphins fans knew Wallace was gone after the 3rd quarter of the last game of the season. The only question was what we could get for him

And so did every other NFL GM. And what you got was a team to give you a 5 and a 7. Take it and run.
