in the context of the article, "going out" is a night out to some restaurant/lounge/bar/club for extended hours. In Vegas I don't equate a night out on the strip with a night out at the pt's pub across the street because there's hundreds of dollars separating the 2. I'm single with no kids and no debt. I have plenty of discretionary income. There's just not enough reward anymore for me to go 30-45 minutes each way and pay 10x-20x the price to do simple shyt like eating/drinking

And you cats keep assuming "going out" means going to a club, when that is just ONE option. You can go to the movies, bowling, a dive bar, a museum, food festival, all types of different sh*t.

The root cause is cause a lot of younger folks are broke. It's that simple. Look at all the folks in here complaining about drink prices and cost of going out as an excuse. If they could afford to pop bottles and get women they would. But getting out is not just bars and parties.. Most folks also do not even own passports so they don't travel either. Most people don't or can't take real vacation time from work. And Many folks never even leave their home state. You guys are not living.. you are just existing.. and it's pretty sad to see. You guys love to champion mediocrity on this site as if that's something to aspire to or be proud of.

However, there is no excuse for a young person to be in the house all day watching TV. Get out the house an enjoy life as much as you can. You are only young once and you will regret not doing more when you are old and have no choice but to sit in the house. I never understood the idea of waiting until you are old or retired to attempt to live and have fun.

A lotta folks gonna be in for a rude awaking IF you even live that long. If you are working yourself to death in your 20s and 30's you probably wont make to your 40's without health issues. Most Americans will never make enough to really retire anyway so by the time they get old they cant even enjoy life if they wanted too.

Blame social media and the internet making people more anti social. Their was a time where you had to talk to people outside especially if you a young man who wants p*ssy but now a days you can live in your own bubble and binge watch the whole season on netfukks for 8 dollars a month as you eat pizza from dominoes. Why the fukk would you want to go outside and talk to people when you can watch Breaking Bad.

That shyt is dangerous Plus you went to college, you got a degree, you took out a loan but nobody is hiring so now your ass in debt and they got you by the balls.

Why the hell should you spend more money going outside under those circumstances.


Also at night time you don't even need a women anymore you could watch porn in 4K on your high speed internet connection with VR glasses on and beat your meat with a fleshlight or use jergens and your hands the good ol fashioned way but in the new day and age. You will be rather delighted because you will find out your hand doesn't talk back unless you do shrooms or are psychotic.

I have a friend right now who thinks it's pointless to take vacation. nikka fukk that. I'm broke currently and happy as fukk. On my days off I enjoy my damn self. I venture out in the city and just walk around. Bout to purchase my skates. Ride my bike. I don't give a fukk.

People always quick to call people "broke" etc but you can have all the money in the world and be miserable.

I'm trying to change my financial situation but I'm not a slave to work.

Then that's your prerogative. I live in NYC, and I rarely spend anything close to a hundred dollars going out. And the few times where I did spend a few extra dollars, it was a special occasions like birthdays, New Years, etc.

Me on the other hand, I'm going out as much as I can, because I know if/when I have a family, all of that fun goes out the window. There are plenty of ways to enjoy life comfortably. Everybody acting like you gotta spend rent money to have fun. In my city alone there's a whole bunch of festivals that's free are $5 max. Hell if you cheap eat before you go but enjoy the music, the people etc. money are not Ima live my life.

To be honest once you've been to one club you've been to them all. Getting drunk or high is ok once in a while but tbh it gets boring. Who wants to do the same shyt every weekend. Not that staying home is any better. Too much staying at home and you have a problem.

I think we need to learn how to have a work, life balance. Your 20's is the time for that. But for me working, exercising and studying is very tiring. So I'd rather go out with friends during the day and only occasionally at night.

Edit: Just to add im an extrovert. No problem talking to people and gain enjoyment from meeting people. For reference.

For those of y'all who delude yourselves into thinking millennials aren't having fun, think again. Their brand of fun is different to ours the same way our parents couldn't understand us being entertained in front of the television playing Atari, Nintendo and Sega. Yeah, we played outside, but people no longer have 3 and 4 children per household. This generation has moved outside to online. They still party, work out, meet up, get it in all without the need to spend excessively to do it. In fact, I applaud this generation for not being duped into being consumers of excessive debt to appear as larger than what you are except those who got shammed by the colleges.
