It's stupid after the first episode that they still let him play football.

This country is stupid sometimes.

The equivalent of if they held another Astro World Fest or whatever a few days after the mass deaths and being like "oh we've done enough to know it won't happen again".

Yeah. Bet. Least you actually can make valiant attempts to secure a festival better in the future, the remedy for a guy with issues like EG usually is not "Hey, go play more football and bash your head in!"

Exactly. SMH at clowns in here making jokes about this shyt

This is the part that pisses me off about this thread. CTE-ball? Really?

There's 1000s of players that don't have issues. Just like there's 1000s of players that do. Mental issues aren't just limited to one sport, one group of people, one anything, but to get jokes off for fake internet points cats will run downhill like football is the cause for all violent outbursts. No one that's an NFL fan made a thread making fun of Isiah Stewart mental health after he charged Bron the other night.

I've said this before, and I'll said it again, the problem is the culture of football. It's not that football causes mental issues exclusively. CTE is real, but also the culture of football is overlooks people who have real mental issues before they started playing it. I guarantee you there's been signs of this with him going back to high school or even earlier, just like Aaron Hernandez, but it never mattered for the coaches to get actual help, because it'd affect their performance on the field, and we end up here. I can't tell you how many times I've seen teammates going through it and only have a coach tell him to channel that energy on the field. It's a system that allows coaches to take advantage of people who are usually already mentally disturbed and then pretends like the issues came out of nowhere or because they tackled someone too hard too many times.

The problem is we don't have enough info on what exactly CTE is or how it affects people. How many people have CTE who never exhibit any issues? Having CTE doesn't automatically = your mind and brain is fukked up.

Another potential issue with CTE is that it's actually been found in people in who never played any sports prior. The reason why? They're not sure.

This sounds like more than just some CTE shyt. We getting way too comfortable just chalking every football player's downfalls up on CTE. Oh Hernandez was out here killing people? CTE! Griffen jumping out of ambulances? CTE!

Not saying these dudes aren't being affected by CTE, but some of the shyt feels deeper. Like in this case, dude definitely seems to suffer from mental health issues. I saw drug play was RUMORED to possibly be involved too...playing a brutal sport like football, it wouldn't surprise me if drugs is playing a part in this as well.
This is a bit of a misleading post. Hernandez was 27 when he died and it's rare that 27 year olds get their brains checked for CTE.
That being said I'm not surprised he had it, but it's a bit heavy handed to try and throw in the implication that CTE was responsible for his behavior.
I honestly think people underestimate the influence of CTE. It completely destroys your impulse control. Aaron Hernandez may have already been violent or had violent impulses but CTE completely eliminated his ability to control it. He had the worst case of CTE doctors had seen in someone that young. You can be normal and not mentally ill, you get hit walking across the street by a car and sustain a head injury and literally your entire personality can change. This happened to the comedian Sam Kinison. If one traumatic brain injury can change someone’s personality imagine what sustained brain trauma over years does.

I absolutely agree, but equating any wild behavior immediately to CTE is bogus. Do the people who shoot up their schools or their work place have CTE? Do all cops have CTE since they have the highest rates of domestic violence in the country? Do serial killers or serial rapist have CTE?

My only thing is, these ppl are supposedly going thru something mentally...but they think enuff to grab their phone, go to app, record, maybe edit, post to social media.

Very strange.

U realize social media is the norm now a days right? Even certified killers use it. Its not far fetch for a mentally ill breh to hop on twitter and act a fool
