That's not true. White people are far more homophobic.

I agree that White People can be just as homophobic but Whites have made more strides than Blacks. If Blacks were more open there would of been an open gay rapper by now but there hasn't been. There are tons of Down Low RnB black dudes that are still in the Closet and plenty people know they are probably gay. Frank Ocean was mostly embraced by Whites though some Blacks did embrace him. Don't get it twisted I think Blacks have evolved on homosexuality but we aren't there yet. The biggest Reason Queen Latifah still won't come out of the closet is cause how Blacks feel about homosexuality cause everyone in Hip Hop knows Queen Latifah is gay. "Set it off" wasn't a movie for her, it was a coming out party:

Lol I feel you. Im from Montreal which is a pretty gay place too, a lot of close calls :heh:

I just cant empathize with the dude being a coward. Whether hes gay, bi or a eunich, theres millions of people that will embrace him for being just that...himself. Theres entire communities devoted to these lifestyles. On one hand, if being a hip-hop DJ is his passion, he will likely never get respect for his ways, but thats life man. I know people that came out and lost most/all of their friends and family and werent celebrities and didnt have stardom and public sympathy to fall back on. Every other celeb that came out got greeted with open arms (Ricky Martin, Frank Ocean, Lance Bass, Jason Collins etc) because its nice story that people can identify with. If anything Mr Cee just looks ashamed of being LGBT

that's the thing though. yeah, I'm sure Cee would get support from random gay rights groups. but he also runs the risk of catching hate from the people who matter the most to him(his friends and family, the hip hop community). not saying that Cee should remain in the closet but it's not as easy as some of ya'll are making it out to be. like if you had some weird sexual fetish that historically has been looked down upon by people in your culture, would you honestly be so quick and willing to share that with everyone or would you do your best to hide it?

Not really.

If Blacks were more open there would of been an open gay rapper by now but there hasn't been.

There have been tons of flamboyant rappers who might as well be gay and actually have proven to be gay. And Lil Wayne counts as one and there are probably some other examples.

And I'm pretty sure that Big Freedia is an example.

There are tons of Down Low RnB black dudes that are still in the Closet and plenty people know they are probably gay.

I'm sick of this "down low" talk. It's not just a black thing. In fact, more white people have that problem (look at all of the politicians doing freaky stuff).

Frank Ocean was mostly embraced by Whites though some Blacks did embrace him.

Because he was being used as a pawn by the gay groups. Same for Jason Collins.

The biggest Reason Queen Latifah still won't come out of the closet is cause how Blacks feel about homosexuality cause everyone in Hip Hop knows Queen Latifah is gay. "Set it off" wasn't a movie for her, it was a coming out party

And would anyone really care? It's an open secret that Tyler Perry, Luther Vandross, and some other examples were gay and their careers didn't suffer.

But that's the point. Tyler Perry, Luther, Raven Symonne and Queen Latifah probably have know they were gay for sometime. But because of our community especially they haven't come out. I don't want to make this a White Vs Black Homophobia thing cause America in general is a mostly Christian nation so Religion plays a part in all races rejecting the homosexual lifestyle. But you know and I know in the black community Homosexuality is looked upon as a horrible lifestyle and people have lost friends and family for being gay in our community. I agree that there are "Down Low" brothers in White, Latino in all communities. "Down Low" isn't an exclusively black thing but we do have a large "Down Low" community.

I'm very sad for Mister Cee cause his struggle has to do with how our community feels about homosexuality, but he did bring this on himself. Also why do people keep saying, "He should just come out". Mister Cee knows the reality of homophobia in the Black Community and Hip Hop. Gay black men can't just "Come Out", if they do they risk losing a lot people close to them. It's easy for non-gays to tell someone gay to "Come Out" cause they don't know what they deal with. I'm sorry but there is a large segment of Black people that are homophobic. This is why the Down low Brother thing is so huge in the Black community (See Atlanta). Black America has been in denial about homosexuality for a very long time as if there aren't gay Black people. Religion has a lot of to with it.

I'm not even saying you have to agree with the lifestyle but that doesn't excuse the hatred that a lot of gay blacks deal with from their own families and community. When Magic Johnson embraced his son that was huge cause it showed a lot of Blacks that we can accept our gay brothers and sisters. I'm not saying all Blacks are Homophobic but we do have a gay issue in our community that we just don't want to address. Many gay blacks stay in the closet cause they are afraid of losing friends and family. Until Black America admits it's homophobic problem there will continue to be a lot of down low brothers including Mister Cee. Also people need to stop making sexuality a gay or straight thing. There are people that are into lots of things sexually. It's not black or white or a to b. Sexuality is actually a spectrum. But Mister Cee again did this to himself.

If he's really trying to keep it on the low then why didn't he go to one of those high priced escort services? instead of going on the street? How much money did he have? Lastly Hip Hop fans need to get out of denial. There is gay sh!t going on in Hip Hop and has been since the 80's. There is a down low community in the Hip Hop World and always has been. You know why? Cause the Entertainment industry has a strong gay community. A rapper has had his makeup done by a gay man before a video. A Rapper has been dressed by a gay stylist. A rapper probably danced to a gay mans choreography. This idea that Hip Hop has zero gays in it is not based on reality. Just cause a popular rapper hasn't come out the closet doesn't mean sh!t ain't going on. Now again I don't want to take this off Cee, he has his own issues to deal with but the broader question is are we as Black People going to continue to act like Gay people aren't in our community when they clearly are?

I think one of the biggest problems is the belief that being gay is a choice. A LOT of nikkas believe gay nikkas just do gay shyt to be freaky, or something like that.....and if they would just stop doing that shyt, then they could be normal and fukk bytches like we do

Now I have no idea whether gays are "born that way" or whether that shyt forms somewhere during childhood, and I really don't care for that long-ass argument. But one thing that's clear to me is this: once that shyt is set, THAT shyt IS SET. It ain't no habit or no addiction that you can be weaned off of. The same shyt you're attracted to as a teenager is what you're gonna be attracted to at age 50 and beyond

Cee really needs to either do one of two things: either stop fukking with men/trannies FOR REAL despite his urges (Donnie McClurkin did the same thing and he seems to be doing fine....so far :manny:), or just accept that part of himself, live his life, have his gay sex that he enjoys, and accept the fact that there WILL be jokes, and even some hate here and there. That's life, and that's people. Hell, look at all the white people who hate and clown blacks - and we have no control over our skin color - yet we still lives our lives as black people normally despite all the racists out there (even though that wasn't always the case). We know and understand that we're far more than just the '******s' they think we are. And Cee needs to realize that he's far more than just the 'fakkit' that some of these nikkas think he is

If he doesn't realize that about himself, then I can't see his story ending well at all.....

If there's so much backlash then why does it seem like there are so many extremely flamboyant brothas out there and a lot of hardcore dykes in the black community? And there isn't a large down low community among black people. That's another media stereotype.

And who says that they HAVE to come out? It's supposed to be private. If they don't want to, they don't have to.

I don't think being gay is a "Choice" cause I don't choose to make my d!ck hard for a sexy female so I don't think they do either. Attraction is a natural thing. I also don't get this idea that someone would choose to live a lifestyle that would cause them to lose family and friends and be an outcast in their families. Who would choose that? The problem is science has yet to understand homosexuality biologically so they can't say for scientific certainty that it's biological or a mental choice. For a while remember Homosexuality was considered a mental disorder. We are evolving on the issue but if people did their history they would know Homosexuality has been in the human race for a very long time. Homosexuality is actually all throughout the animal kingdom so why are so surprised human beings would like the same sex?

No I agree, I don't think gay people should have to "Come Out". They should be able to life their lives in peace but it's society that forces the issue. I also agree that the media did blow the "Down Low" thing out of proportion but that cause it was so undercover not many people knew about it so it blew up and people started doing books and shows about it. All Down Low means is there is an underground gay community of brothers who have sex with men but you wouldn't know that or would consider them straight. That's the point there are tons of Thug Looking Straight men who have sex with men and if you saw them on the street you would think they were straight. Gay is no longer those flamboyant guys with high pitched voices. It's regular looking guys you least expect.
