Watching this Pelicans vs Warriors game right now and it shows a glaring weakness on our team. It’s the reason we had trouble with Steph this week and D Book a couple weeks ago. We need a long wing defender to put on these shifty guards. Hopefully Carter Bryant can be that in the long term but I think we gotta figure out something in the short term. I can see us having difficulty with the Shai, Jamal Murray, and obviously Steph in the playoffs.
Any trade candidates to fill that role?

It’s unreasonable to think Carter can step into that any time soon.

Sochan is better served defending the Brons and Lukas of the league (slower (relatively speaking) stars). Castle does a decent job with the quicker guards, but his effectiveness depends on the refs letting him play physically. The real issue was Mitch seemingly having them play drop coverage and giving up the 3 instead of running the Warriors off the line.

Carter Bryant seems like he's a quicker defender than Sochan, but he's a rook and won't get much respect from the officiating. I honestly think if the Spurs look to improve via trade, it would be for more offense. Vic still has a bad habit of somehow getting forgotten offensively. Fox will continue to improve as he gets up to full speed following the hamstring. Barnes started cold, is red hot now, but likely will fall somewhere in the middle. Keldon hasn't made a 3 in like 6 games. Vassell has been decent. They're all flawed in some ways. I'd still be cool with consolidating some talent for a Lauri Markkanen to really lock down the offense for the foreseeable future.

They’re gonna get killed with that drop coverage stuff in the playoffs because playoff teams are gonna have shooters that actually make shots.

And I don’t like the idea of going 3 pointer for 3 pointer with this Spurs roster.
