The Supreme Court is the highest court in the US. This is the court that decides whether laws are constitutional (essentially, legal and valid) or not, as well as other highly important issues. It now leans heavily right-wing. So Affirmative Action, Abortion, Environmental Rights, Consumer Rights, etc etc etc are all about to get major reductions if not eradicated completely.
Anyone who Trump picked for the court would have been a right-wing bigot. But Kavanaugh is special in regards to how he feels about executive (Presidential) power. The original controversy over Kavanaugh was that Trump was only picking him because, in the past, Kavanaugh has expressed views that seem to indicate that he thinks the President is above many of our nations laws. Trump, his administration, many of his associates and business partners, are all being investigated for crimes against our country. Some are already in prison. While Trump himself has not yet been accused or charged with any crime, everyone is expecting the investigation into his administration to eventually lead back to him. If this happens, some of these cases or issues will likely lead to the Supreme Court. I'm talking issues like, "Can the President of the United States actually commit treason?" There ya go....Trump is putting an unqualified man on our highest court, for a lifelong term, to protect himself from prosecution.
And then he was accused of rape....and shyt really got heated.
In this age of "MeToo", "TimesUp", etc, I'm sure you can understand how emotional this ordeal is.
I mostly believe women, and obviously am against rape, but I don't find the second controversy as compelling. White bytches votef Trump in so it's on them. Honestly, I kind of feel like this is cutting Trump a break....everyone is running around worried about Brett drunkenly raping someone in high school, and are no longer thinking about why Trump is putting him on the court in the first place (Nor is anyone focusing on his views on a host of other important issues). We should ALL be seriously concerned about what changes are about to take place in this country.
@ all the anger this thread. I'm going to chalk it up to a rough week. Hopefully this is no indication of ya'lls real feelings.
