Taking this argument up, does that mean then that black people can argue FOR reparations because the '40 acres and a mule promise' was not kept?

Saying "no one responsible for slavery is alive today" is certainly not the same as saying "slavery doesn't negatively impact anyone today."
I thought reparations were supposed to help offset that negative impact.

The "civil war is reparations" argument is piss poor because the civil war did not compensate for the labor stolen from black people. Turtle was reaching for a reason to justify his "fukk no!". His "fukk no!" will likely persist regardless of broken promises of 40 acres and a mule- because he just doesn't want America to pay reparations .
