That would not happen if Democrats actually did something in the other years. But I do agree.hold them to the fire in what way? constantly talk about it? they did that with mcconnell's quote about making obama a one term president by simply not working with him. the voters rewarded the republicans with the house and senate. how about dem voters take responsibility for the fact that they take a vacation in off year elections and then cry about how those that were able to be reelected aren't delivering to their satisfaction.
well when you don't have a majority the only way you can get things done is to work with the other side and give them the vast majority of what they want in order for you to get a tiny bit of what you want. in a situation like that it's best for us that nothing happens. and even when you have a majority, the senate is pretty much designed to not do anything without 60 senators (btw the mythical democrat supermajority of 2009 existed for like a month). look at the republicans now they have a majority in the house and senate and yet obama doesn't have to veto bills every week because hardly any bills gets out of the damn place. That would not happen if Democrats actually did something in the other years. It doesn't matter if they barely had a supermajority. Look at how W. and the Republicans rolled. Democrats roll over because they are centrist at heart and tack to the "middle" (which is really the right wing now) as soon as they get the chance because they know their base won't punish them for it. Part of Obama's biggest opponents on the healthcare bill were Democrats with heavy pressure on them from the health insurance lobby.well when you don't have a majority the only way you can get things done is to work with the other side and give them the vast majority of what they want in order for you to get a tiny bit of what you want. in a situation like that it's best for us that nothing happens. and even when you have a majority, the senate is pretty much designed to not do anything without 60 senators (btw the mythical democrat supermajority of 2009 existed for like a month). look at the republicans now they have a majority in the house and senate and yet obama doesn't have to veto bills every week because hardly any bills gets out of the damn place.
Confirmation of special interest group's hold on the american govt.

Moreover, your whole "it's best that nothing happens" scenario is false. Nothing happened because of Republican intransigence, not because of Democratic reluctance. Go revisit the budget that Obama was trying to get done with Boehner.
you are truly burying the lead hereTo be fair, everybody already knew that the GOP wasn't going to let Obama get a justice in regardless of who he picked.
The nomination was really just a (pointless IMO) gesture by Obama meant to make the GOP look bad.
yepLadies and Gents, this is who is running your government
