Same people playing into the idea of mixed people not being black are the same people who probably don't understand/know that they are enacting the same racist ideas of slave masters, personally doing the work of white supremacy themselves.

Trying so hard to separate black people, playing into white ideology. More "pure" blacks, shunning those who look mixed is the equivalent of field slaves and house slaves (a distinction made by skin color) shunning each other. Neither party will ever be fully accepted by white people, but both groups are too damn dumb to unite in numbers to get anything done to change their place in society for their own needs.

American blacks, regardless of their social relation with race, have achieved and progressed in ways our diasporal counterparts have yet to achieve. So is this system really as bad as you're making to be? No. In fact, we are more united because of such and have achieve far greater things on account of this mutual support of those socially perceived as black.

America as a whole has more opportunity and a greater economy than those countries you named... How about we don't compare apples to LED TVs...?

Yeah, you won't compare America to the UK in this regard. Being successful doesn't make you "united" either. The further up a black person goes in America the less black people he is even around so that's a horrible example. I'm sure everyone is going to eat that up though. i don't think you understand the concept of race, race is based on shared physical characteristics aka phenotypes

people who don't exhibit the same phenotype are not of the same race, no matter how much you want to socially construct them into the same classification.

In the UK, blacks are perceived the same way as blacks in America. And again, blacks have achieved far greater success there than in most other members of the diaspora.

There's a reason why immigrants from those countries in South/Central America and the Caribbeans flock to America. They are the most disbanded group of people and for such, they will continue to be oppressed to the tenth degree in countries where they make up a significant portion of the population. They have no power, but are still very concerned with not being considered "black". It's hilarious.

They are mentally separated. No unity. They could be on top of the food chain numbers wise, but because they have played into the idea that they are not the same (trying to be massa's favorite) they will continue to live in the bottom in a place where their numbers are great.

First of all, slavery is not exclusive to Black-Americans, there were many on the continent that were enslaved as well.

Second of all, there's no such thing as a pure "African'(Africa is a continent), but there is a pure Black person and I qualify as such.

Lastly, I will hope I'm in a position that I don't need some "benevolent" bi-racial person to have to save me. That is why I take the positions and stances I take. Black people all over the world need to position themselves so that they never fall victim to what our ancestors fell victim to. We should be powerful enough that we are never rounded up and hoarded off like animals again.

Black people are already divided....culturally, spiritually, linguistically, economically, politically, geographically, ethnically, etc....the only that even unites many of us is our race (skin complexion & hair texture) and even that is changing as some of you are saying that mixed race/bi-racial people are fully black.

Being Black should just be first requirement, other requirements when it comes to "building" need to follow. Being Black racially should just be the first of many.

But that is still based on looks though correct, social construct right? It would have to be because not every mixed person comes out looking one way. Social constructs aren't bad. Also, the racial categories you are discussing for the UK are fairly new.

The one drop rule is only a bad thing if you view a drop of blackness as a bad thing, instead of a mark of honor. What you are definitely doing is supporting a slave master ideology, separating mixed from the "pure" in order to disband the allegiance between the two parties, keeping them from ever uniting for a greater good, to advance their progression. It's the equivalent of the economic appeasement of middle class members to quiet the probable riots so they never feel like they relate to the lower class.
