Looks as though the nature of the game is that they'd each rate each other. They didn't shoot their shot. They stood in a line, just like her.
And even if this played out in an organic setting, what you're saying still doesn't add up. There are different aspects to attraction, someone's appearance and their personality. People are not locked into their first impression, so if they're met with disrespect when shooting their shot, it is normal and expected for their view on the person to change.
