1993 breh Habs vs Gretzky's Kings I'm anti LA sports teams Game 2 at the Montreal Forum when Desjardins got the hat trick I was hooked.

Good choice, those were good days to be a Habs fan. :ahh: I was only a youngin then but I remember the city was electric. My 3rd grade teacher even cancelled a test because him and all the students were too tired from staying up late to watch the games in LA.

I bet you didn't expect to still be waiting for another cup in 2016:to:

Doughty has the second most giveaways is considered a defensive stalwart yet pk is considered a liability

Pk is better than doughty, better than Keith, better than Weber the last two who are old

I hope Canada loses

Keith and Doughty belong on the team, no issues there. But Weber hasn't been the same since Suter left the Preds. Vlasic is solid defensively but LOL at anyone who thinks he's a better all around player than Subban.

If PK ain't on the team, I'll be cheering for Team North America.

fukk that boys club known as Hockey Canada. :pacspit:

Goatganda the pearl of Africa
Reminds me when team Canada left Crosby off the 2006 team for guys like bertuzxi

And yep a bunch of old white men who don't like flair.

No wonder Brett hull played for us instead

Fraser's the worst ref. That Habs-Leafs final woulda been crazy. :mindblown:

When that eventual playoff series comes, both cities gonna be lit :banderas:

Habs nearly met the Leafs in the first round in 2002, 2004 and 2013.

In late 2002 the Leafs and the Bruins were battling for 1st seed in the east. With the Habs being the 8th seed, if either boston or toronto won the northeast division they would clinch the first seed and play montreal. Boston eventually won the division BY 1 POINT. copped first place, and played montreal in the first round. At that time the Leafs were probably a top 2 contender in the east with the new jersey devils.

Eastern Conference[4]
R Div GP W L T OTL GF GA Pts
1 Z- Boston Bruins NE 82 43 24 6 9 236 201 101
2 Y- Philadelphia Flyers AT 82 42 27 10 3 234 192 97
3 Y- Carolina Hurricanes SE 82 35 26 16 5 217 217 91
4 X- Toronto Maple Leafs NE 82 43 25 10 4 249 207 100
5 X- New York Islanders AT 82 42 28 8 4 239 220 96
6 X- New Jersey Devils AT 82 41 28 9 4 205 187 95
7 X- Ottawa Senators NE 82 39 27 9 7 243 208 94
8 X- Montreal Canadiens NE 82 36 31 12 3 207 209 87

In 2004 same scenario. The Habs were the 7th seed, and boston and toronto were once again battling for the division crown and the 2nd seed. The winner would have played the Habs.

In 2013 the Habs and Bruins were battling for the division crown and 2nd seed in the east. The Leafs were locked firmly in the 5th seed, and they were going to play the division winner.

The last game of the year, who featured the bruins and the senators, in Boston, on apr 28 2013, was of utmost importance because it directly impacted the eastern conference playoff matchups .

If Boston won, they would be the 2nd seed and play ottawa in the first round. The Habs would be the 4th seed and play the Maple Leafs in the first round.

If the Ottawa senators won, the Habs would be the 2nd seed and be division champs. Boston would be the 4th seed and play the Leafs in the first round.

Ottawa won 4-2 by scoring 4 straight goals after boston took a quick 2-0 lead.

Instead of a toronto/montreal showdown, it was a ottawa/montreal boring series where the sens were made quick work of us in 5 games. At least a leafs series would have gone 7.

In 2002 playoffs the 2nd round playoff matchups in the east were :

Toronto vs Ottawa
Montreal vs Carolina

I remember the Habs took a 2-1 series lead in the 2nd round, against the Canes. By winning game 3 in OT, 2-1.

I remember Kevin Weekes, the losing Carolina goaltender, receiving bananas from racist montreal fans just after audette scored. :scust:

I think he was replaced by irbe from game 4 on.

In Game 4, the Habs were leading 3-0 at the start of the 3rd period. Many people hoped for a Leafs/Habs ECF. The Leafs were beating the sens as usual in the postseason, so it was possible. Habs were destined to take a commanding 3-1 series lead and meet the Leafs in the conference final. What a dream-like scenario for the Habs fans, who watched their team in the playoffs for the first time in 4 long years

The Habs choked in the most :scust: way

And they lost pretty badly the next 2 games. In Game 6 in Montreal, they lost like 8-2 or something. Doug Gilmour broke the penalty box glass out of pure frustration. And the Canes eliminated Montreal in 6 games, playing toronto in the ecf.

No surprise at all ill be cheering for Canada to lose....Vlasic over PK is beyond hilarious...thats like mid 80s taking Charlie Huddy over Paul Coffey...

To say with a straight face Subban is too much risk and reward while picking Doughty is laughable...Its race nothing else.

Nobody should be surprised, its babcock that undercover code worded racist fakkit.
