MONTREAL - Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the embattled Montreal Canadiens comes news that a month-old baby is recovering in hospital after getting hit in the head with puck at the Bell Centre.
According to the child’s mother, the souvenir puck was apparently tossed by P.K. Subban at the Provigo Habs public practice on Sunday.
“At the end, the players took the time to throw pucks at their young fans,” the child’s mother Valerie Meloche wrote on Facebook.
“Unfortunately, one of the fans who caught a puck thrown by P.K. Subban was just a month old — and she caught it with hear head.”
The infant suffered a concussion and is under observation at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
The child is expected to recover, and the mother is reaching out via social media to thank those who came to her baby’s aid.
It is customary for Canadiens players to toss pucks and other souvenirs into the crowd after the Provigo practice, which is open to the public.
Canadiens players also toss pucks into the crowd when they are chosen as the first star of NHL home games.
