From what I recall, the comeback game he was rusty as hell, but still balled. He even had a rub in dunk. It was hype as hell though. The REAL hype started when he dropped that double nick in MSG. Then hit game winner in ATL. Mike was obviously not the Mike we all know him as all season. The next season it was business as usual for him though.

Yeah watching this Orlando series once he went back to 23 looked like Mike:russ:

I looked at the 94 series with the Bulls/Knicks it's crazy to me how close that Bulls team was to pushing for that 4 peat without Mike. They went 7 with the Knicks and you never know what happens if they don't get that call against them in Game 5:yeshrug:

20 years since his first comeback btw:wow:

Why do so many people choose to ignore this series being conference semi-finals matchup? Exactly how close were they to pushing for a 4 peat when they got bounced before the conference finals?

I remember my cousins hating and rooting for him to fail. I was the only MJ fan amongst us and it was tough watching him struggle that first game back. He got 19 I think but it wasn't pretty but at 13 I wasn't thinking about him not playing for nearly 2 years. I just expected him to come back and be his usual dominant self. He wasn't but it didn't take to long for him to get his feet up under him. And we all know what ended up happening after that.

I don't think anybody was seeing the Pacers as a threat that year breh:francis:

Plus Bulls/Knicks was the rivalry back then too

Let the coli tell it 10 is old enough to analyze and recollect games :stopitslime:

Rust was expected but mike got his rhythm back pretty quick and was dominant he wasn't as athletic and there wasn't as much dunking on nikkas he rarely did that. When the playoffs started outside that game 1 vs orlando he was killing but the bulls had a hole at the 4 that got exposed

At 10 years old I couldn't analyze but I damn sure can recollect a WHOLE lot of games. Besides that, your summary is right and exact. I hated him and was glad the Magic smacked him, but aftern that it was over.

His decline was more obvious and folks expected to see 93 Suns/Bulls Jordan. But it was still a solid and exciting season. Like it was said earlier, the hole at the 4 just made their interior defense super soft, thus the Rodman acquisition the following year. shyt was exciting though. Jordan himself was a rare phenomenon.

Yeah also Mike was not at playing weight. He was heavier than his normal basketball weight and he didn't have as much lift as he would have the next year when he had a whole offseason to train.

Also Pip had blossemed into arguably the best wing player in the NBA before MJ came back.

It was cool that MJ came back with only releasing a fax saying he was back. There had been rumors he was coming back the previous offseason especially when the bulls killed the potential trade to flip pip for Kemp.
