That weight stuff is prevalent in damn near anything requiring a weigh-in prior to a fight. Antiquated practice.

Simple solution is moving weigh-in to fight day but think of the millions the bookies would lose if the gambling landscape changed so suddenly lol

They used to have weigh ins the same day in boxing, why did they change it?

There's a lot of reasons... before, you'd have sloppy cutting like above but guys still able to hop into the ring. This was back in the day though, sports medicine, training, and science has come a long ways and teams do more than ever to resculpt a fighters body. This is one of the practices that really needs to get with the times and consider the new forms of recklessness associated with finding acceptable competitive advantage.

you could sell a weigh-in as an event/promo all on its own too. The day between the displays of fighters typically shows a ton of odds changes and swings. It's money.

I ain't even talking about in the ring...just tryna make weight is fukking terrible.

This dude prolly almost died for $1000 payday

Then he actually fought too, but he lost, tho

if you're mad at what people do to "make weight" you gotta be mad at boxing and wrestling too.. dont you think.. heck even football and basketball to an extent..

I don't fukk with mma anymore

My man mark hunt had to pull out of his next fight because of serious health concerns. Says he can't sleep and he's slurring his words now. Not to mention the card that's announced a month before is completely different come fight night. Fighters getting injured in training and pulling out or can't make weight. Fukk that sport

No sympathy for these idiots who murder their kidneys and liver dehydrating themselves like they do to fight in weight classes 20+ lbs under their actual body weight. There’s no official rule in MMA that requires fighters to do shyt like this; it’s all their own insecurity about their talents outside of a base size advantage over their opponents.

If MMA is a “brutal” sport to you because of this then so should any combat sport. Boxing, jiu jitsu, judo, and ESPECIALLY wrestling are notorious for this kinda behavior; nothing MMA specific about it at all. Hell, professional bodybuilding is worse than all of those I just listed when it comes to weight cutting in reality.

Whats the point of the weight in when these guys go back to their normal weights right after it and before fight?
There can't be a fight with no weight in and if they do it in the same day of the fight those fighters would probably die. It's complicated for everybody.

If you fight at 155 and you walk around at 155 you don't want to face somebody who's going to weight 170 inside the cage.

I love mma right now. That Ferguson Lee fight was :wow: he fought with Staph on his chest, no other sport is allowing that:scust:

I heard a fboxer describe boxing as a fair sport becuz its just about your hands. Thats why I find ufc more exciting right now. It's so many different skill sets vs each other. Black Belts can lose to brown belts. Its just exciting.
