So I’m going to post equipment as I get it.

Vacuum

Ridgid WD4070 4 Gallon Portable Vacuum https://a.co/d/0S0FY93

I bought this a month ago. It’s legit and it’s affordable.

I also got an extension hose
RIDGID VT2534 7-Piece Auto...

Air compressor

200 psi 4.5 Gal. Electric Quiet Compressor https://a.co/d/fau7ph0

Based on my research this is what a lot of detailers use. I copped it at Home Depot. It’s kinda pricy tho $349.00

Steam cleaner

McCulloch MC1375 Canister Steam Cleaner with 20 Accessories, Extra-Long Power Cord, Chemical-Free Cleaning for Most Floors, Counters, Appliances, Windows, Autos, and More, 1-(Pack), Black https://a.co/d/3q8iIia

There are more pricier ones out but I’m not trying to get the best of everything. This is supposed to be the best one to get on a budget.

Carpet extractor

BISSELL® Little Green® Pro Portable Carpet Cleaner with Disinfectant Formula, 3194 https://a.co/d/3ut7mhA

Again, I didn’t want to pay $500 - $1600 on a carpet extractor. So I got this for under $200.

I got 4 sets of detail brushes from Amazon as well as pet hair removal tools. Right now I’m looking into what’s the best polisher to get. I want to get two.

The best pressure washer cost too damn much. I ain’t trying to spend over $1000 just starting out.

Check offerup and fb marketplace for some of the bigger items, you can get the pressure washer for under 500 easy

I drive local leads via ads for pressure washing and detailing businesses. Hit my DM if interested.

What I’m NOT trying to be like is this dude below

Doing regular wash/wax gigs will have you working hella hours making small money. Not only that, it eats up all your time.

I’m going to jump in offering paint correction immediately. And if the client has their own garage, ceramic coating. You can eat off of doing 2 or 3 of those jobs per week.

I’ve seen tons of videos of other detailers. The snow foam to me is a waste of time and water. I’m only going to carry a small water tank (30 - 40 gallon) and only use it if it’s absolutely necessary. Plus I don’t want a big ass van.

I’m going to be mostly using a rinseless method. One think I got from the video above though is the simplified pricing. I’m only offering 3 packages. The only thing that’s perplexing me is people equate detailing to car washing when it’s not the same. I’m not washing someone’s car for $20 - $40 dollars :scusthov:

I ordered my polishers today. This was a journey in itself trying to figure out what’s the best ones to by while not going over budget. Rupes is the “best”, but the way I sit it, skill is more important than the machine most of the time.

I’m still working my day job but my work ethic has started to fall off. It’s only a matter of time now before I get terminated and I can get that unemployment. :blessed:

I’m going to get a cheap pressure washer. I see most of these detailing videos and they be wasting water. They be having these big ass water tanks with the snow foam cannon and it’s like unnecessary. It looks good on social media, but the before and after shot is all that matters.

One item I’m going to be offering is under carriage sealant (rust protection). So I’m gonna need to buy a jack and jack stands. I know newer cars don’t need it (allegedly), but living in the north east, a lot of cars do. Removing rust/adding sealant could be a $800 job and up easily.

But back to the pressure washing. Less water means I can detail inside building garages that down allow high water usage. There are a couple of methods you can clean a car with little to no water.

Depends on your location you can eat that way, get a contract with an office building to wash the employee cars. They are there for a 9-5 and you can do 30-40 quick ($20 and up) washes without having to drive anywhere
30 - 40 washes in a day? :dahell:

Realistically 4 - 5 at most, especially if I have do bring my own water. At $20 a pop that’s nothing.

One idea I had was to advertise to a luxury apartment building with garage parking. Offer a subscription for $250 a month which will get you 2 details. 1 every other week. Let’s say I want to clear $10,000 a month in gross sales. That means I need 40 clients to sign up. That comes out to 8 per day if I only want to work 5 days a week. Since it’s every other week they basically turn into maintenance details which take less time.

I haven’t even officially started and I already got a client :dahell:.

Pick up truck. 2 seater. Full interior. I quoted him $90.00. I got everything except a generator. I only quoted that much because it’s my first and it’s an old truck.

And I’m going to operate and market by business as a rinseless mobile detailing. I really don’t want to get a truck or van. Everything is overpriced. Going rinseless eliminates the need for a pressure washer, water tank and gallons and gallons of water.

So I got 1 big and 6 small pump sprayers. I’m going to use optimum rinseless wash. I copped a gallon of it for $58.00, but because of how it’s diluted, that shyt will last a long ass time.

Basically I’m going to use my Lex. I’m going to clean it, paint correct and ceramic coat it. This will be a billboard for me. I’m only going to put my logo and QR code on it to keep a low profile, but draw interest at the same time. I’m also going to get custom plates in my company name.

What’s your IG or details? I’m in North jersey. If anything I recommend you homie. Love seeing a nikka winning. I made this same decision in 2020. It was hard at first but you can do it. One thing that helped me with my business ( I don’t do anything related to what you’re doing) is getting a google listing and asking for reviews. That shyt is the best thing I ever did and it got me a lot of clientele.

What kind of business and what review platform are you using?

If you aren’t using google ads and thumbtack you are missing out. Also use something like Jobber app.
