A friend and me have this idea for an app, but upon speculating about it...I was told the mobile website would be the better and cheaper option. Anyone have experience with either?

I know it's probably broad ranging, but what could I expect to pay for the initial creation of said site? I really want it to be a searchable database/registry.

Nothing overly complex, some pictures and some cultivated content, but primarily a database.

No, without getting to deep into it, I am trying to create a new type of business directory. That people can search. Initially I know I will have to cultivate the directory, but long term after I prove the concept I want businesses to apply to the directory.

I'm currently having a website built for me from scratch with a coder. It depends on alot, but just off from what I can gather, I'd say anywhere from 5-10k for an actual datasite. If your designer is using a template with WordPress, I'd say 1k-3k

I'll keep this in mind.

Incorrect. There are a few options.

1.You can purchase a template off codecanyon.com and use websites like upwork.com and topcoder.com to get a developer (you're better off picking a firm/agency with a 90% completion rate, good english fluency + top rated on the coding platform). I've routinely done projects for various fortune 500's using this approach.

2.Do everything from scratch, very costly and requires a company/agency with a good track record. I previously used Yalantis for my govt work and several other agencies in Ukraine that I sourced through talent brokers.

website is better since websites will have most of the functionality of an app anyways unless you're using something like the camera or whatnot. If it is mostly about filling out forms and sending and retrieving data from the database, just stick with the web site.

Nope I’m using upwork with a coder and it’s being done from scratch. It’ll roughly cost me 5-10k. A wordpress template would be cheaper. It obviously varies based on your needs. He wants a general idea of the costs..and that’s basically what it is.

1 single coder is bad. Usually using an agency via upwork is best as they hvae more staff and experience
