I'm telling you, the concept of progressivism now just means accepting gay people and not calling black people monkeys.
It's because the GOP maintains power through culture war and instead of saying "obviously we support equal rights and protections for all people and groups but we aren't going to argue with the GOP on that, we have policy positions about health care, climate, tax reforms, and other platforms that will make everyone's lives better and simpler" they just try and swing back with a bunch of performative wokeness which is hollow because literally none of these people actually give a fukk about these issues. Like it took the NY state legislature finally wresting control back from the GOP to actually pass an ordinance to say "yeah so it's not legal to torture gay teenagers". They can't actually bother to craft policy around anything whether that's cultural lines or economic lines. I mean fukk they can't even be bothered to finally go 'nah weed should be legal' and get ahead on the issue for ONCE.

Look at how quickly they turn on Omar, a black muslim war refugee, they can't even commit to the dumb culture war bullshyt. It really illustrates that the party kinda stands for nothing of any substantive value. And as reprehensible as they are, at least the GOP manages to have SOME semblance of policy and a backbone on it's positions despite those positions being evil and monstrous.

So the amendment would let the actual drivers of our debt get a free pass and balance everything else (ie. social programs that help the disadvantaged).

It's almost like they are paid to be disgusting. :snoop:

The 27-member Blue Dog Coalition says it’s backing an amendment proposed by Utah Representative Ben McAdams, one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election in 2020. The amendment would allow deficits during wars or recessions and would shield Social Security and Medicare from court-enforced cuts. The requirement for spending to equal revenue would take effect five years after ratification, to allow for a transition period.

these people aren't liberals but
