West coast gangster rap by light years. Most trap music is garbage.
I agreeChicago Drill Rap >>>>>>>> West Coast Gangster Rap...
The Drill formula is so basic and authentic that almost any drill rapper with charisma can shine on a good drill beat...I am listening to Drill songs from unknown street dudes and they all still capture that savagery very well....Some do it better than others, but in general, the formula is very catchy and produces a lot of consistency in quality, if you are into that kind of music...
West Coast G Funk on the other hand did NOT consistently produce high quality product...Let's be honest, Death Row was teh only camp producing high grade quality product, the other stuff was just wack to be honest...Now, if you are hardcore G Funk follower, I understand that you may feel differently..But for me, I liked Dre, I liked Snoop, and I liked Daz and Kurupt but only when Dre and Snoop were on the same track or beat...I didn't care too much about Above The Law, DJ Quik (I still think he is type wack till this day, he may be technically a good producer in terms EQ, Compression, Levels and such, but I am not feeling the vibe)...
Just my opinion...
