No shade breh, but is that solely due to childhood beatings? or were there communication issues, resource issues, and societal pressures on top of it?


Most black people live hard lives and are attacked from all sides by a system that despises them. Can you really discount the greater condition of our people and only blame beatings for the unfortunate breakup of this family?

I might draw a parallel to the argument that: “the absence of a male role model is the reasons prisons are full of black men, and our communities are drenched in poverty”. Problem solved.


But that ignores the greater question “How does the absence of a male role model come to be?” The previous question ignores the Crack epidemic imposed cacs. It ignores redlining imposed by cacs. It ignores substandard education imposed by cacs. Because the previous question neglected these issues, it merely listed an effect (absence of male model) of other circumstances as the cause of prison crowding/poverty.

Of course, none of this relieves us from fixing the problem. But we fix the right problem, the cac system, not its symptoms. Again, no shade. this line of reasoning may apply to your unique family situation

When I become a parent, communication won’t be via abuse.

Beating kids doesn’t have a positive affect. And once they are old enough to leave the house, they no longer fear the beatings. So if you don’t instill the values, they still go on to do the bad things.
