Damn I just read some more about this

Disgusting animals man

How common do military dudes rape women in these countries that they occupy
The book “black hearts” gets pretty in depth. It covers the the circumstances that led up to it, the disregard of battalion, brigade, division, corps, and Army leadership (that allowed the circumstances to continue). It gives background on the company involved, and each of its platoon’s. It also covers the investigations, the capture, and all the changes made across the Army to pro event shyt like that from happening unseen.

I haven’t heard of it happening again. I came in right when all the big changes were happening. It was one of the events that triggered the big “surge” deployments. Soldiers and leadership were a lot more vigilant knowing that they could report shyt and it would actually go somewhere. Units still care too much about their reputation but it’s not as extreme as before. Commanders didn’t want to be known as the guy in command of a unit that has to be reflagged because of an extreme discipline issue.

I’ve heard of multiple rapes within the ranks, but not of local nationals. Murders don’t get covered up either. I’ve had to sit through a (in country/deployed) trial for a potentially bad shooting. The “kill team” Those pieces of roach shyt plus two other incidents, in their AO, actually ended our trial early. shyt happens because you can’t realistically screen crazy people, but they don’t get away with that shyt anymore. In Afghanistan we rarely dealt with women. It’s culturally rude plus their garments could be hiding suicide vests. Most units use female chaperones. It could be a female soldier/medic, it could be a female afghan, we used our female EOD interpreter. The most contact I had with Afghan women was some of them bringing me wounded children.

The most fukked up part about the guys that died or were kidnapped on that bridge, is that they had no involvement of what Green and his crew did. They had no knowledge that it was even their unit involved. They ended up paying for that shyt with their lives because their units were so scattered out. shyt like that is why I carried an extra grenade in my pocket. I hope I would have had the nuts to use that shyt in the event that I might have been captured.

Combat is not fair to anyone involved. All sides are constantly trying to get the upper hand on the other, around the clock, to kill them or make them quit. I would NOT EVER want to be in the hands of Al-Queda in Iraq (what basically became the backbone of ISIS.)

People that speak out against their abusers/molesters end up missing or found by somebody pissing

This has to end now
It is abhorrent

That’s the type of shyt that happens when abusers/attackers aren’t man enough to accept consequences or take accountability smh. Dude was spineless af for taking it there. Now all that’s left is a bunch of lost/ ruined lives and broken families.

I am 100% ok with this. I hope they all got raped with metal pipe.

I can't imagine all the bullshyt US military does to the local people who have nothing to do with the war, that gets covered up. This story was so horrific that it would eventually get out.

Event’s like that aren’t that prevalent. At least while I was in. fukked up shyt happened but you have to keep in mind that it’s the same population we both come from. Same shyt they were on as civilians is the same shyt they bring into their branch. I can’t agree that they deserved it. The guys at that checkpoint had nothing to do with it and had no idea guys from their platoon were the ones who did it. They were told to set up a checkpoint, alone, and they got overran, fukked up, and taken.

Just trying to get your story right. Y'all went looking for the kidnapped soldiers and the soldiers were the ones found booby trapped?
Yep, our unit didn’t find them another unit did. They had to call EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal ) to come remove the ieds before they could recover the bodies. Intent was to kill or injure the soldiers who who would eventually find them.

Start firing and dishonorably discharging people. Go right up the chain and clear out the incompetence and indifference.
The bullshyt has to stop. In various institutions in this country we protect abusers and make it as hard as possible for victims.
Disgusting.

I do agree with you on the investigation end,
. I just can’t see how anything could have been done to prevent the tragedy, in the first place.

Unfortunately, all that happens after the fact. Somethings just aren’t preventable. The entire time I was in we were bombarded with speeches and classes on sexual assault, harassment, what to look out for, how to avoid, assist, and report. It’s just like a regular job So you go home at the end of the day, unless you’re deployed. We don’t all love together in barracks. Everyone has a personal life. The Army is gigantic and things are constantly going on. It’s also decentralized as hell (it wouldn’t work otherwise).

It’s like trying to prevent a school shooting. I’ve seen guys get hemmed up for even joking about the wrong thing. The person who’s going to really do it won’t say anything. They’re going to look for an opportunity and do it.

I mentioned in another thread about how I was the last person, in our barracks, to see this guy a couple of hours before he shot two civilians in the face (for no reason other than he just wanted to go to jail). He would fight here and there but was pretty laid back. The last thing I said to him before I drove off for the night was: “you want a brew form the shoppette before I take off?”. He laughed and said “nah, but thanks Bro”. There was absolutely no indication he was going to do that. I winder if bring him a six pack anyway would have stopped him. I saw this dude damn near every day. My soldier hung out with him. We don’t even know how he got the gun.

He decided to take a taxi across town to Austin peay state university and go hang outside of a bar. He started a conversation then started shooting. Then he waited for the police. Dude was smiling in his mug shot and shyt.

If we had an inkling he would do something like that dude would be hemmed up in manacles with no shoe laces. But we didn’t. Now three lives are destroyed.

I think dudes name was Phtra Oum.

Yep those guys at that checkpoint got fukked over by those idiots who done it, and again by their unit sending them on a checkpoint with just 3 soldiers, especially in 06 :wtf:. Like we did patrols it was mandatory to have at least 2 tanks and 2 hmmvees, or 4 hmmvees. Had to be either or. Some combination of 4 vehicles. fukk you gonna send cats out in 1 humvee in that AO during the middle of a Sunni-Shiite civil war, and Al-Qaeda in Iraq :dahell:
