thats never gonna happen . But her family is pressing for a Congressional Investigation into Fort Hood. A lot of the NCOs are with this too. They said 166 dead on base since 2016 . Some are pressing for Fort Hood to be closed (doubt it ) .
I say they separate the genders and address the sexual trauma issues on BOTH sides . If they cant stop the men from being raped and harassed, they cant protect the women .
LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) is telling all Latinas to NOT enlist in the military
They still don't understand the scope of the problem. They'd need to send the army to fix the army essentially - as in move a large number of the decision making entities from all the high hills out there
to Ft. Hood so that they can actually be forced to acknowledge what the run off to their massive structure actually is. Even some of the most powerful staff to come through that base only do so as a stepping stone and they're gone as quickly as they show up.
Its the largest base in America and the most deployed. That means people are either there forever, or they're gone half the time. That breeds an environment where people who do stay (read: don't leave) have FAR more ability and freedom to create an environment to protect themselves and intimidate others while those who want to do the right thing, help others, or just mind their own fukking business can't even do that without having to confront the fact that they'll likely end up taking permanent damage to themselves, their loved ones/friends, or their careers by going against the grain in one way or another.
Another way to fix that is to fix the nature of the base of itself. And functionally, that isn't happening as long as defense is one of the country's primary exports. I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but the base is simply too fukking big. Once a base gets past a certain point in the middle of nowhere, then it becomes a whole ecosystem by itself. The surrounding areas Killeen, Belton, Copperas Cove, etc *cannot* sustain their economy without Ft. Hood being above a certain population now. It was actually established that Ft. Hood can't deploy past a certain point because the amount of missing income straight up ravaged the area. They'd have to move certain big ass units out - but those units would need a place to go as well. And nobody really wants those problems either...
Also, that number is WAYYYYYYY higher

only 166? Another thing people don't talk about with Ft. Hood as much as they should is the rampant and abhorrent child neglect. Its not just the soldiers. Soldiers get kicked out and die right outside the base. They lose that income and their kids feel it. Their wives/husbands feel it.
The people who gotta deal with THEM feel it. And after a few generations of it, you've got some shyt... that the next guy/commander/politician can handle
