I did hear Momma for the first time in a minute the other day and forgot how hard that shyt was :ehh:

He definitely went in, but I expected "harder" shyt to back up the BRA title he was claiming like those before him. Control and Look Out for Detox(I think that was during the rollout, but might be off) were a lot more aggressive and competitive. Wayne had joints on Carter II where he just went the fukk in like Tha Mobb. Even Jay "proved" himself with What More Can I Say on Black Album. I felt like Kendrick was focused on crafting a full body of work that he contributed elite lyricism to, but it just didn't match with the "IM TRYNA MURDER YOU nikkaS" energy the rollout consisted of. Classic as it is, TPAB isn't the *type* of record that a nikka should be screaming "I'm the best rapper alive" behind :manny:
The blacker the berry fits your description but I know what you're saying

Big Krit.

After Krit dropped 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time which was a great double album I really thought dude had found his footing in music, he was ready to separate himself from his mixtape run.

Then he dropped Krit Iz Here not a terrible album but it was lackluster.

That digital roses album following this was even worse to me too.

People said that it's an album you have to experience live tho so I guess that's why.

I've only peeped a few tracks off of Digital Roses, they were okay but I never really bothered to care to fully listen to that album.

Overal I've never been a fan of Rappers releasing RB albums, Kanye opened that lane.

Big Krit's career would be soooooo different if his mixtape run was changed out for his album run.
Facts. Caddilactica and Krit Iz Here along with this one was cool, but his only REAL shining moment for studio albums was 4IAMLT. And that album even imo ain’t fukking with any of his mixtapes with the exception of It’s Better This Way (which was still dope) and maaaaaaybe King Remembered In Time. KRIT is a perfect example of an artist that had absolutely noooooooo fukking business being on a major label. “Cause love from the underground, yeah that’s forever”.

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez, See Your Future

I LOVED Walkin, still my favorite song of 2022. BUT the album couldn't keep up the quality of the first two tracks. If it did, it would be easily the best hip-hop album of the decade so far.

Cam'Ron - Killa Season ..... it was supposed to be his next big moment. And it was independent. Sadly without the polish of Roc engineers it sounded somewhat cheap. Even though I still liked it overall, during that time it was a let down from Purple Haze. All the Jay dissing the dips were doing around this time and then he dropped the ball.

His mixtapes leading up to the album, plus Just Blaze's youtube vids with crazy sounding snippets and instrumentals made me think it was going to be a monster. I was convinced for years Greatest Story Never Told was going to be an all time great album.

It took like 5 years to come out, and by then his moment was gone, and the album wasn't what I thought it was going to be. It was good, but not the classic album he hyped up for years.

carter 3, wayne--- his momentum was stupid...we were all there so I don't gotta spell it out...those leaks destroyed this album

king, ti---same as Wayne....had the ATL movie dropping, dropped a classic single, then the album was just okay

bossalinie, cmurder---my favorite NL Soldier...he was in a zone, killing all his features in 98...started seeing the cover everywhere, im cysed.....album was way too long, beats by the pound fell off a cliff and clearly the tank was in decline..no Mystikal, no Mia X, Silkk on 1 joint....beginning of the end...but I chopped this shyt down to about 12 tracks and been listening to it like that ever since.

Youngins born in like 2000 would disagree with u but i 100% agree. That shyt came and went. The album didnt impact the culture at all like a GRODT, Chronic etc except nikkas rapping over the A Milli beat.

Now Wayne overall as an artist influenced the coming generation but this album did not. Nobody goes back to it either. All people remember is that it sold a lot of records the 1st week.
