Dude was like the Tim Duncan of indy wrestling. He had all the fundamentals down pat. But wrestling isn't a real sport so nobody's becoming a star off just having the fundamentals down. He just wasn't all that charismatic and he didn't have the sort of look that would catch Vince's eye so he sort of found his level. He wasn't a great booker when he was at ROH either. The WWE job came at the perfect time because he just wasn't fitting in with this spot monkey era at all.
