Steve Harvey is one of those hack comics whose schtick revolves around pretending to be a wisened elder, and some sort of preacher, who went around venting how “wrong” the world was, making basic jokes about how “kids these days” need to pull up their pants or what have you. “Blah Blah my music was better than your music.”

This is true. I would only watch the Bernie Mac and DL Hugley segments of Kings of Comedy. Remember skimming through Ced's part and remembering it being funny just not relatable to me.

I never watched the Steve Harvey segment. Couldn't get past 2 minutes of the overwhelming corniness and his golf/country club style jokes.

i'm kind of feeling like this. i don't know their relationship but she shouldn't rely on other ppl to defend her or speak up for her in public. if steve came to her in private and said he'll help her then i don't see the problem. but then again steve also took pics with donald trump so who knows what his intentions are. his message about not being able to help the poor if you're poor is true but who knows if he is actually helping or just trying to spin it and make himself look good and smart.

Monique has a point, but no backing. The black community is doing what we're good at...just talking and complaining and not building.

White people have a system and industry built for themselves. If we don't like their fukkery...then we build our own! If someone won't allow you in their game...go start your own.

Monique could start a grassroots movement, ask black people to support her with our money, and then she could tell the white entertainment industry to kiss her ass.

Man fukk white people, you cant confront ANYONE in a position of power when you zero leverage, at that point you're just hoping they look out for you, and who knows what complications they have going on

regardless of race, there's only so far people are gonna be willing to go for someone with no leverage, you gotta be bringing something they want/need to the table. When i have the extra resources and time to help nikkas out I do, and when i don't, i can't unless they got something to offer

Monique running around asking for a lot of pity and sympathy instead of just getting it out the mud herself, no one's gonna respect that behind the scenes in the industry.

At the end of the day Monique is full of mixed messages.

She said she took the precious role because she was told it could get her an oscar. That was why she was cool with the 50k salary. Monique also mentioned that from what the folks in Hollywood told her a oscar nomination would get her 3 million and winning the oscar would get her 8 mill (in her next roles).

Then she said when she got the oscar she turned down roles because they weren't offering her the 8 mill range.

She then was offered to host the oscars the next year after winning the oscar. But she turned it down because they would not fly out her team out (for free) as well. She also mentioned that she turned down hosting the oscars and promoting the movie in France due to wanting to be home with her hisband and kids.

So let me get this straight its about integrity but originally you said it was about the money then you said it was about family and saving your marriage.

Now years after winning the oscar she mentions that she still holding out for a pay day while throwing everyone she can touch under the bus.

Said part is folks don't realize this how the real world works. You can't be unemployed and then burn bridges and then think you gonna make a salary that you would make before you were jobless. As an unemployed person you basically know you have to take a lower level salary. Cause you starting over until you hot again then you can jump to a new gig and make more.

Go get laid off on the real world not work for a year and see what type of offers you get.

Oh and as a provider myself you will always turn down jobs to be able to spend free time with family. shyt you may turn down dream jobs that never come back. But them be the breaks and you understand that as an adult and professional.

IMO Monique and her husband have a set price in their head of what Monique needs to make because of her Oscar. And because of that she will not take anything less and will scorch the earth if she isn't compensated as such.

Yup she put too much stock in what the oscar meant for her career like it would make her demands and money bulletproof but failed to realize cacs can change that anytime. Will smith dont got one and gets 20 mil a movie and got his production company too.

She should learn from dave and go on a lil small circuit tour to build back up buzz but that grind aint in her just excuses and name calling
