Kevin has even talked about how he's been grinding forever by building up a following on social media to where he is now so that he can make demands to the studio if they want him to extra promote by tweeting out something. What money has Monique EVER made for Hollywood? "Precious" was a critical success but it didn't break the bank. If I was Lee Daniels being a new director in Hollywood and I finally get some acclaim with "Precious", helping two unknown dramatic actresses get Oscar nominations, especially Monique who was "c00ning" it up in the "the Parkers", I would feel some type of way that Monique wouldn't help me get the word out during award season to help setup future endeavors. I'm sure Daniels fought hard to get Gabby that role in "Empire" but i doubt he did the same for Monique.

Some movie deals include a marketing clause where you agree to do press and some don't, but for an independent movie with a $10 mil budget...that goes on to be Oscar buzzworthy, anybody in their right mind should be doing as press as you can. Ride the international Oscar wave as long as you can for your own career. The more people recognize you and like you...the more likely you're hired to get hired for other projects.

Look at her IMDB before "Precious", its all low budget comedies where she pretty much played herself in every role.
