Nothing MoNique said was lies. Everything Monique predicted and laid claim to, was proven facts and correct. The problem is they didn't like her saying it or bringing more awareness to how the industy PTB operates and functions. They tried to silence her heavy, with the 'angry black woman, irrational, crazy, demanding' label for distraction instead of acknowledging her perspective as credible. With Oprah, Steve Harvey and Lee Daniels getting exposed in recent events; black men being made the face of 'rape culture' while not making their white counterparts accountable - more evidence of the same. Monique won - her paper may not be as long but she maintained her integrity which is worth more, imo.

She's not a good business person nor is she a good employee. You gotta be one or the other to make it in this industry.

She was mad because Netflix didn't come with a great offer, so she decided to act a fool. Why do that when you could have gone to another network, or better yet, do like others have done and produce and film your own comedy show, and shop it around to the networks or release it yourself?

I don't even know what fools are discussing this woman went to netflix without a stand up routine asking for multi millions. her work on there is very low rated and they gave her a fair offer. she exploded and since has done nothing but prove that she is in fact difficult to work with

Making Mo'Nique a martyr is really silly

She went to a company in a free market and they gave her a value they felt was fair.

She didn't like it.

She then went on a complaining tour about how it was unfair, how she deserved more. But there is no "deserve" in a free and open market. Netflix is not and has never been entitled to HAVE to hire you. If they don't want your content at the price you see is fair, then that's business. If she is worth the value, then go to Amazon, Hulu, DAZN, etc. etc. and get your money there

The issue is two-fold: one she is not a champion of "independence" she is No different than Steve Harvey. The only thing about her situation is that she did not get the money to do what she wanted to do. Steve Harvey was able to get a salary that he feels is comfortable to do the job. If Netflix gave her the money comfortable to do her job, NONE of this would be an issue. She would've done the special and life would've gone on. Now that because she didn't like her offer, we are supposed to look at other people differently. That's a bad comparison.

Second: She has all of the tools and resources to do it on her own, yet she would rather complain. If there is an audience for your standup, go find them. Call a club in Vegas, NY, LA, Chicago, DC, and set up a residency. Spend 50K- 100K on some production and camera people, pay an editor. Shoot your stand up, and sell it. IF there is a demand, go find it. Plenty of creative people (like Joe Budden for example) have found their niche doing things their own way and cultivating an audience. If Mo'Nique feels that she has this audience, give them your content, make your money, and prove everyone wrong.

Her TRUE value is much less than her internal perceived value. She thinks that because she has an Oscar that she can command X from a company, when really a company is only going to be able to generate what they can from the consumers (Y). And if Y isn't worth it to the company, they don't have to do business with you.

If Netflix is wrong, prove them wrong and go get Y from the consumers yourself
