Monkey Appears to Mourn Dead Man, Tries to Wake Him Up

A monkey, believed to be the pet of a deceased man, apparently couldn't let go -- and we mean that literally, 'cause it was holding on to the body like he might come back to life.

It was less mourning and more of a confused from the monkey





Im also suprised at the tolerance of the owners. I know 3rd world brehs are extremely hard-on-animals, so i wouldve expected them to beat the monkey once it started its investigation of granpa's remains.

I'm not exactly sure the depth of grieving animals go through but they do have an understanding that death has come. Usually this shows in them trying to first wake up the deceased. Animals form various levels of bonds that can be as close as what we only assume humans have. I've seen videos of cows and donkeys dealing with death. Kinda interesting to know that so many animals must figure out how to let go of someone they care for.

I feel like donkeys are even more emotionally and socially intelligent than most dog breeds. There's a video of a donkey herding the owner away from a fire and blocking her from getting close.
I didn't know donkeys are also herd type animals. They are used to guard properties and live stock.
