More like science-illiterate people learned nothing.
You don't want firm statements cause they might turn out to be wrong later and you'll lose all trust.
You don't want tentative statements couched in some uncertainty cause that's too confusing.
You don't want them to say they know nothing cause that's unhelpful.
And you don't want anyone to force coordinated messaging cause that's a conspiracy.
What do you want "them" to do, with "them" being the millions of scientific-literate people across the world trying to make sense of those and distill that information for others?

yeah by all (scientific) accounts current monkeypox mutated a few years ago into a strain that mutates faster than it should.
monkeypox is a DNA virus so should mutate relatively slowly.
for some reason the monkeypox type spreading in the west is not behaving like a DNA virus in this regard.
