Thats a alot of time when you consider St allworth only did 30 days and he was drunk when he killed somebody.

thi raises a question.

Would you rather do 3 years in jail or never be allowed to drive again like Stallworth?

Word.

Unless I'm missing something there seems to be a lot of parallels between the two situations, only Mookie's getting slapped with a lot more time.

Unless Mookie doesn't have anymore $$ from his playing days to settle with the family.

With the court system its always about $$$. They raped Stallworth pockets tho. He had to sell his moms crib. Attorneys, DA, Judge they all the same to me

Why did they suspend 4years off his seven year bid?

Call me a hater but I really getting jealous and frustrated with the favorable sentences that these celebrity's and expired celebrity's be gettin. shyt ain't fair. I can't even get a favorable sentence when trying to appeal traffic tickets but these mothafukkas getting away with murder
Dont know about every state but suspended sentences are common here in bmore

Like one of my boys got 20 year(16 suspended) so now if he fukks up he got 16 years to back up

I think they do it so people will actually try to change when they get out instead of going back to do the same shyt

It was part of the plea agreement.

The District Attorney's office and the defense attorney get together before trial and talk about the case. The DA office can ask how the defense is going to respond. Maybe the defense is going to say, we are going to plead innocent. If the case looks open and shut, the defense could ask for plea agreement. This way, they don't have to go through a jury trial, the defendant gets a lower sentence and the DA's office wins the case. The defense can ask for different things in the sentencing if they agree to a plea agreement, what about 2 years suspended, 4 years suspended, 5 years probation, 8 years probation, or whatever. There's back and forth. Or the DA could just put a plea agreement on the table and say, if your client pleads guilty, we will offer time suspended. The DA could have initially put 5 years in prison with 2 years suspended on the table and the defense could have come back with 3 years and 4 years suspended. I don't know. If the defense doesn't like anything in the plea agreement, they may not accept the plea agreement and go ahead with a trial and plead innocent. I think this happened in the OJ trial. Now, it's up to the defense attorney to prove innocence and if he loses, the sentence and fines will always be higher than whatever was offered in a plea agreement.

When it comes to traffic tickets, they are misdemeanor offenses. The cost to pay a lawyer to get a lowered sentence usually can costs the same or more than the fines that will get handed down if you didn't hire a lawyer. :beli: That means it is usually cheaper to just to go in and represent yourself. If a legal office sends you a letter that they can get your offense lower, they may be able to. However, nothing is 100% because they don't know your past driving record. All they can do is say "we did our best", they get paid for representing, you pay fines and legal fees. If you are poor and can afford legal representation, then, you could try to get a lowered charge through that lawyer. If you drove through a stop sign, it's up to the lawyer to make a plea with the DA's office. Will you lower it from "failure to obey a stop sign" to "failure to obey a traffic signal" if my client pleads guilty. They may say yes. Or, they may say no. Then you go to court and plead innocent and go on trial. The defense and DA will question you. If you did drive through the stop sign and a cop describes what he saw, then you will lose the case.
You could try to represent yourself, but you kind of need to know what the heck you are doing. What is it that can help your case? A tree branch was in the way. Take photos of the scene. Show the photos to the judge. If there's no proof of your innocence, then you'll be hung by the balls.

"The toxicology screens showed no alcohol in Blaylock’s system at the time of the crash, Palmer said. The reckless driving, vehicular homicide charges arose because doctors had told him not to drive because he was prone to seizures attributed to alcoholism, she said. He had been arrested for DUI a month before the crash and he had “several past DUI convictions,” Palmer said."
