i get what he's saying. its only entertainment. its like wwf...imagine if people consumed all the facades they saw in wrestling. wrestling was huge in the 90s. even though people knew that the same wrestler has wrestled under 4 different names and facades they were smart enough to know its only entertainment and it ended when they turned off the tv.
people didnt go around hittin people with hammers and spray paintin their clique on peoples chest and back. although dx had a degenerate attitude its and stone cold had a trust nobody fukk the world attitude people didnt make that apart of their lives or live up to those facades. sure people did the gestures, and wore the clothes, said the quotes. people do the same with rap, wear what the rappers wear, follow the same trends.
it really boils down to people. back in the day people used to rock long hair and want to party like rock stars, and today people still emulate these idols/false idols. i think maybe the lines of it going away when the tv and radio are turned off are kind of being blurred especially with social media and such and such a high priority of independence and being what you want/ chasing the dream/never giving up. people are afraid to give up their individuality or pardon it to get back to the real world. people fear not being unique. somehow the phrase "i never want to work in an office setting" is widely circulated and people think its lame they dont see that you can still be individual and unique and be apart of a larger entity.
people dont want to be a number or a sheep. back when i was a kid, we'd dress up like ninja turtles, spiderman, batman, power rangers, firemen, cowboys, cops and robbers etc...we knew we went back to being us when playtime was over. nowadays ive seen kids in school dressed up like some costumed hero or in the store thinking their a princess or spiderman or some shyt and parents are like "

let him be him"
it definitely begins and really ends in the home. if you watch tv and listen to music and still are in that frame of reference when the shyts over, thinkin its real and such...its not that the entertainment is too real is just that the line hasnt been defined for you and your missing the point.
when the family or household structure isnt there people tend to seek out and idolize others and entertainment even more. its one thing if you want to be a cop, fireman, rapper, ball player and you have family or household structure to cater you toward that. you will keep your individuality and uniqueness but people without that filter or strong self identity blur all the lines as to what they should look at and look for. for instance athletes. yea they are good at sports. people say all the time they want to be as good as tom brady or peyton manning but a majority of the time they are referring to wifing a supermodel or playing quarterback they arent saying i want to be as great of a father at peyton or archie, or get as good as grades or ace the wonderlic.
people live up to their idols and achieve the same level of notoriety all the time, like looking up to jordan and playing in the nba and getting endorsements and such. but there is a balance with the family/household structure/upbringing/ego and id that allow people to succeed successfully and others who are focused on the wrong thing and never achieve.
its all to be taken with a grain of salt, any reasonable person could look at anyone and say id like to be like them, yet... or id like to have as much talent or skill as ____ but then id ________
on some older sports forums i used to see old heads talk about sports stars saying oh hes a great running back/ quarterback/ pitcher but he was a terrible father. people say "he's a great businessman but an a$$hole" they are looking at too much of the spectrum.
you cant have it all. shyt the beatles have quality music and are skilled musicians, their music have morals, values and convey very powerful messages to the open and aware listeners. people shyt on every beatle. paul, john, george, ringo....let it be, all you need is love, well stop using drugs, be a better husband and father blah blah blah...
georgia okeefe painted pictures of flowers that looked like vaginas is she a great artist or a freak
warhol painted awesome pop art but his personal life is very ........well..you should know
michael fukkin jackson made thriller.....thriller
tiger woods...
hemingway
van gogh.....
the list goes on.
morals and values are so personal a lot of them are hard to personify. you can open a window to some but not all. and not a lot a one time. there isnt a master list or one size fits all. what moral to you isnt to me and vice versa.
now ethics are easier to define but even then people can be hesistant.
there are great songs about being a great dad, but the artists who write/sing them? does that make the product any less credible? this is what jigga is pointing out. its a 2 sided coin. its like you could be skilled with low/no morals, or moral with low/no skill not often do they go hand in hand where we can acknowledge
take what you want with a grain of salt, leave the rest and move on.
