If you're going to handle race, or in this case ethnicity....it has to done by creative people, or you should just leave it alone.
When I caught the later episodes of Archie Bunker, the show featured characters who would hold their own against Archie....Maude or George Jefferson. His dialogue with them would consist of him saying some sexist or racist shyt.and them flipping it on him and make him look stupid or start stuttering.

In the two clips of this show shown on this site, the AA character is there as a punching bag.

They should have had the dialogue of the scene end like this

Will Smith's Mom "Black man at the bottom of the list? Beneath a white man?"
Abishola "Yes"
WS"But what about Dr. Jenkins, the new head of cardiology. He graduated from Morehouse and Harvard and he's AA"
