We need to stop immigrants from coming here and taking our jobs
America (white middle class America) has an obsession with the proverbial bootstraps. They cannot reconcile the conflicting views of America being the best nation on Earth and people not being able to prosper here.
We need to elect officials who will address this issue. The question is, what is the solution? What solution will placate both the victims of homelessness and landowners who are trying to maximize profits?
I wish a major city would adopt what I call the "Co-op City Plan". New Yorkers know what I am talking about.
In this envisioning I have, the city could buy up properties, and rent them out at cheap prices to entice people, and could also employ them, allowing them to be able to afford the house/apartment.
Let's bring all the jobs back, executives stop being cheap ass penny pinchers and train some damn employees and keep it americanWhat's that gonna solve? This is a country that was built on immigrants (or is this argument interchangeable and disposable when convenient?). Most of those jobs that would f been here have been outsourced to foreign countries anyways. Immigrants and a consumer economy with disposable income is the only thing keeping this country afloat anymore. We don't produce anything anymore. There are no real jobs that can be attained without a degree of some sort, the credit check is keeping people from affording decent housing and most people don't even have a concept of credit and how to use it...why isn't that taught in school cirriculums?
If you want immigrants to stop coming here...maybe you need to start thinking about the reasons why they have to leave where they're from in the first place to come here...
Not if they dont have money. Are they providing them shelter![]()
I'm watching Drug Inc. on Natgeo right now, and they're in Oakland. America faces problems that are convenient and profitable. Combating homelessness is hard, and thus something that politicians avoid.America simply doesn't want to face it's problems...
1984 Orwellian shyt right here.
I've read that there is a growing amount of states looking to outlaw people giving food to the homeless. Which is sad.
This is Gentrification in effect. Rather than address the problem of homelessness, people are doing their best to pretend it doesn't exist.
.Not if they dont have money.
