4 years ago I was off from work(Ironically I'm off today...), it was kinda cold and constantly drizzling. I had to go to a church around my way and the line was long as fukk (my neighborhood majority black) I finally get inside, vote Obama, and get the fukk. Later on when the results came in me and my nikkaz rode through D.C. honkin the car horn crankin My President is Black.

It's a nice day today. Hopefully everything isn't opposite....

I was a volunteer at Obamas campaign office. Got up early around 6:30am to stand in line. Stayed up late as hell to watch the results. Bumped jeezy "my president is black" after he won.

4 years later im in the bed at 8:37am about to get ready for work.

I was a senior at Hopkins. Can't remember the day exactly, but about 20 minutes after he was elected, my friends and I started a mob/riot in the street that grew to like 400+...15 or so people got arrested including a professor lol.

I was doing my make up midterm for my econometrics class. My cac roommate kept talking about "this is the end of america" and :"I'ma move to Canada" rant. nikkas were going ham in the streets though.

Four years ago, was my senior year of college. I felt so American that day. Getting up in the wee hours of the morning, to vote for the first time EVER. Not only vote, but elect the first BLACK president ever. The day was full of emotions. Seeing the diverse crowd on the line, talking about Obama and what this moment meant.

That night when it was official, I and nearly , because my VOTE actually counted and made history.

I can't remember the day but I know I was watching that night on my mom's couch because I was in between my apartment lease ending and closing on my first house. I never got to put my 2008 Obama/Biden yard sign up. I'm looking at it in my office now, still in the box.

I remember leaving work early,cause my boss was being a jerk,so he let us leave. When in election came in...I was talking to a homegirl of mine...

Keeping in theme with the spirit of the day, what were you doing 4 years ago on this day? What are you doing today?

I remember I voted wayyy early in the morning back home. Nothing but uppity conservative CACs, so I know my vote didn't hold any weight there.
I rushed my ass back to school. Campus was too live. Only thing everyone asked that day "You Voted?" and nikkas was like "yep". I hated on a "I voted" t-shirt.

Met up with my friends. The university sponsored a viewing party outside on the campus yard (HBCU, ftw. Minimal CAC presence) with a big ass screen out. EVERYONE was out there. I wanna say at least +3,000 people. Of course since it's a black school they had a DJ with twerk music playing, the band was playing and nikkas was strollin'. I think they played Frankie Beverley & Maze Before I Let Go 3 times in a 2 hour period so nikkas could do the electric slide

Then all the votes came in (most of what I'm recollecting here is a blur cause I was drunk as fukk ) And I just remember everyone screaming. Everyone started crying. A playa shed a tear too yall.

And now I don't even really like Obama like that.

Now this year:

In 2008 I was Fighting a case, locked up for 5 months, not knowing when I'd see the streets again. Had JUST caught on to Obama's wave in the previous June, when I'd gotten bagged. Had a beautiful red conscious sista I was givin gems & the D to before I went down, who was writing me as well at the time. I was really wishing I was on the streets, in D.C. with her, especially for Inaguration day. shyt was like the culmination of my being.

Today...don't fukk wit the bytch. She fell off way hard without my light in her life. Real shyt. Just deaded all communication wit her a few weeks ago. Enjoying life a lot more after being caged up for 4 years. At least I get to see this one from out here. Very proud of this man, even though I don't fully endorse the politics of this country and know that every politician got their shyt wit em. VERY proud.

i was in Germany & Ireland the week before. for real i forgot all about the election. i got off the plane and watched some of the coverage before getting stranded. called this white girl up who came and got me. we drove to my house and met up with my boy and his girl. by the time we got some drinks and sat down, we already knew he won. we went crazy, drank all night, and topped off the celebration of the first black president by fukking a white girl that night!!!!!
