It’s definitely a tough one. It depends a lot on your age and the generation you most identify with. Also since their styles of play and personalities are so distinctively different it’s easy for individuals to make a choice on what they prefer.

I think all the factors said previously are relevant. But I think Kobe gets it because his tenure with the Lakeshow is just so much longer. 4 generations damn near saw Kobe wear that purple and gold.

It's crazy the amount of iconic players that franchise has. Dudes like James Worthy third teir and he would be most franchise's best player ever.

EDIT: Actually watched the video posted in the OP and I have to agree with RJ. I didn't think about it that way. I think Kobe is the more iconic Laker, but I think Magic is the more important player

Come on, man. There is no laker mystique without Magic. They were damn near buffalo bills status with west and baylor. Magic brought them to a new level.

Philly
Magic revolutionized the PG position

But Kobe was a complete player.

We all know how iconic Magic is but I don't think he would've played 17-18 yrs, let alone 20. And Kobe was a warrior on the court, playing through all types of ailments. Add to that Kobe faced better competition in the West than Magic w/ less talented teammates than Magic. What Kobe accomplished in the 20 yrs in LA, really 16 (Dell Harris screwed him as a rook & he was never the same after the Achilles), he's one of the most talked about players, even in retirement

So the Bills had the first dynasty in league history, the first big superstar in league history, and championships in damn near every decade?

fukk outta here, Lakers went from a great franchise to the GOAT franchise within Magic and Kobe’s tenures.
