this is why I say Nas is arguably the greatest rapper to ever do it. He has one of the best voices/flows I've ever heard coupled with one of the best pen games I've ever read.

Those two things usually don't come in the same person

A Nas guest verse and an incredible track be leaving me :wow: much of time. But for all his talent, dude has put out alot of underwhelming music. To me, at the end of the day, quality music trumps all when it comes to being a rap artist.

In that regard, I think Nas fell short.

When nas sold out as a cultural artist is how nas ruined his ability to make quality songs, consistently.
Nas opened the argument and flood gates to empower other sellouts.
to try to justify them selling out on some nas did it type bullshyt.
If nas never does that,..he never has to not make cultural music and rap never has to be moved into a fully pop sellout realm.

Plus, it would have kept the quality of song in rap high enough as a litmus test.
That would have eliminated a lot of low quality low skilled rap music.
from ever being deemed relevent or viewed as a sellable commodity.

Nas, easily.
As havoc was the protege to q-tip And was present in the black moon recording sessions.
Nas had no one to influence or show him personally the way to build on skill, like havoc.

Nas had Ra and Kool G Rap

My vote goes to Nas with this poll though
