Why are u comparing them?
Is there a reason besides u like Lupe and hate Kendrick??
nikkaz swear up and down Kendrick is a lyricist and got bars... I dont think ANYONE that has bars should have their whole career overshadowed by a 20 minute mixtape... you agree? And I dont hate Top Ramen, he's just the most overrated rapper this side of naS

if you don't think kendrick or Nas are great lyricists then I don't know what to tell you...I feel like you're jsutr trolling to counter-balance the love.

Kendrick is one of the best lyricists to come out in the last few years imo
Ronald Regan Era and these fukking metaphors on rigamortis blew my mind tbh and most of his songs (albums) are on this level. his albums are full of analogies, metaphors, he paints lyrircs... I personally don't like his guest verses (can't even lie) but his albums are fire.

You should start with section 80... Kendrick came with the straight raw hip-hop BARS on S80. GKMC had fewer simile's and metaphors. More storytelling, and conceptual writing rather than just bars. But like most people would say, you ahve to break down section 80, it's an album that can take a lot of time if you want to understand everything and that's why he was compared to Lupe (lupe still better imo but it doesn't take away anything from kdot's talent)

and if you really don't want to listen to his albums then just give Ronald Regan Era a few listens and tell me he isn't a nice lyricist...

as for Nas, I don't even feel the need to say anything as he has been in the game for 20 years.

Obviously Lupe, but you gotta look at what type of rapper each of them are. Lupe is more a a complex wordplay lyricist, and Kendrick is more of a storytell/conscious MC. People will try to tell you Kendrick has top-level metaphors though.

"When they was all back of a nickel like Monticello
in the underworld had to be smarter than Donatello
no honor amongst fellows
it's harder than sittin' with a blind man and tryin' to describe yellow"

:ohhh::dwillhuh:

"As I lean, back like limbo in 64's like Nintendo, clean/
Don't intervene chumps, y'all far from the hood like limosine trunks
I'm up front with the pumps,
and I squeeze into cars like a Mini full of clowns or a coupe full of Klumps"

:smugfavre:

:whew:

prime Lupe is the best rapper of all time IMO. Flawless flow, wordplay was advanced as hell, dope content, and lyrically it's not that he was just the best, he was SO much better than everyone else
