Trying to blame problems on overpopulation is an outdated way of thinking. There are MORE than enough resources (food, water, shelter, medicine) to sustain everyone on the planet, this is a provable fact.
It's like me having 20 steaks to distribute to 5 people, but instead of giving 4 a piece I take 19 of them and tell you there's a shortage. Are there not enough steaks to go around or am I not distributing them efficiently?
There may come a point where we legitimately have too many people and not enough resources to support them, but we are nowhere close to that number.
The population is a problem because human beings are destroying the ecosystems and driving other species that we depend on to create the biodiversity that we need to live on Earth to make room for the rapidly growing human population.
Now if we developed a planned economy and started rationing food and consumer goods....you think we gonna be happy with that...and long is that gonna take? Do we wanna go through the Cold War again? The entire Cold War was about market economy vs. planned economy.
Without a lifestyle change and an economy change we are screwed. We are overpopulated and population control incentives need to be imposed slowly and unbeknownst everyone. People need to start being incentivized to not have children. People need to be incentivized for not buying so much shyt. People need to be incentvized for not having big houses. Peopole need to be incentivized for not living in the surburbs.
