The feds are stepping into Chicago's seemingly intractable gun violence problem.

A newly-formed prosecutorial unit called the Violent Crimes section will focus solely on how federal statutes can be used to stem the city's bloody gun crime epidemic, the U.S Attorney's Office in Chicago announced Monday. The unit began operations April 1.

The announcement comes less than a day after five children were shot at a South Side park on Easter Sunday. The children, who were between 11 and 15 years old, were among the more than 40 people wounded by Chicago gun violence over the weekend, the Chicago Tribune reports.

it began when the United Center was put up (late 90's). shyt, I live in a gentrified neighborhood.
Oddly enough, it has only affected Mexican/Puerto Rican neighborhoods for the most part.

If you live in a decent neighborhood, you wont even know this shyt went down (I had no idea this many people were shot till just now)...but take a trip to certain areas out south and you can cut the tension w/ a knife.

1) More police presence is needed.
2.Structure within the gangs is needed.Without that it wont matter how many feds u bring
3.Too many crooked cops
4. In situations like this i like to see the breakdown of the shootings. Cant just fall on stats. Because the typical "gang violence" statement media use is not acceptable

If you were in charge, how would you fix this issue?

- more police presence.I moved to a better neighborhood and the cops are every where, guess what ? no where near as much crime as when I was living in baltimore.

I know people are going to be like, naw man I dont trust the cops or I dont want to live in a prison. Well guess what, the good people there are already living in one. You rather have a cop on every corner or shootouts while your kids are outside playing? these nikkas have no aim.


These dudes already know what time it is and will not shoot at the cops. In my opinion and the stuff ive seen growing up, all that provide them with jobs etc. will not help them and if you think giving them some 8/hr job is laughable, because they rather be doing something else. My nephew just came home and he's 18. Dude will not listen and rather be out fukking hoes and doing dumb shyt.... Its just the way it is.
