I don't want to take in any more right now. We have enough problems. My reasoning is just nuts and bolts practical. If a civil war kicks off would you want to be in the US? We are on the brink of one right now. Obama is going to have to take the L and maybe pay someone else to take our share or just straight up say no. It's easy for someone who doesn't live in the US to point the finger and say you should do X, Y and Z but you don't have to put up with the consequences of 60 million crazy ass republicans thinking the walls are closing in on them, 30 million pissed of black people who KNOW the table is tilted and 50 million Mexicans set on the reconquista. fukk all that noise. Australia has space. you take them.
The US is the richest State that has ever existed so far. Having the resources to provide for and intergrate the refugees isn't the problem.

If I was a policymaker in AUS I would take them in.

My man there are harmless people all over the world. I'm concerned with the handful paid mercenaries that will come in with the lot. It's not worth it. I also resent how our politicians are acting as if they're doing this out of some kindhearted act. There's an agenda here, I mean really who can't see that?

I just don't see what living in fear is going to do. We can't shutdown and close the borders to everyone it doesn't work. We're supposed to be an inclusive society, all laws aside for refugees and treaties we've signed. We've taken in refugees from all over the world and many were from conflict zones including Muslims. Hell most of the Muslims in our communities are refugees from conflict zones, most of the Muslim brothers on this forum even. Well you'll be the first one to tell me the US caused this problem so yeah maybe we're paying it forward. As far an agenda, idk, I'm not worried about fighting for my career with skilled or unskilled immigrants or the Islamification of the US(LOL).

Why would the mercenaries subject themselves to a thorough 2 year vetting process in order to enter the country when they could just fly over on vacation no questions asked if they are EU citizens?
What if they're not EU citizens? And am I to really believe that there will be no holes in this vetting process? Do you want me to run down the list of mistakes made by US government concerning the middle east?

Bro, listen. This is not worth it. If it's a question of kindness then this would be a moment for the average US citizen to NOT be nice. These folks need to seek asylum in another country. We allow the media to con us into thinking we're bigoted far too easily. This ain't that, this is cheer common sense.

With that mindset we should have stopped accepting people after the Revolutionary War.
My people were slaves at that point or soon going to be. This country is not that country. Their problems are not our problems. Ideally you take in all of the worlds refugees but it isn't practical right now.

You worried about holes in a 2 year vetting process and not huge holes such as our Mexican and Canadian borders, work and travel visas, regular vacation visits from non-middle eastern nationals, and domestic sympathizers?

You are basically wasting all this anger worrying about the most difficult path a radical would take to enter the country. It would be like me worrying about thieves coming in through the chimney when my front and back doors are wide open.

:comeon: My posting history is consistently pro black and generally liberal in nature. This is a tough one for me but I can't move on it. The US takes refugees from all over the world yearly. We have 50 million living in poverty and unemployment for young black men is at 50 percent right now or there abouts. We just can't do it.

Classy response. GDP doesn't mean shyt to my people and our struggle. Go look up quality of life and other indicators. US struggling right now in many areas. You folks can take them in.
What the fukk are you talking about? Stop deflecting. You said the US was "broke". No, the US is the richest State that has ever existed so far, with a completely manageable debt to GDP ratio (not that you as a country still haven't made some ridiculous decisions and wasted a couple trillion). You are conflating the distribution of resources (huge problem), with the ability of the country to pay and amount of resources.

I was gonna ride the 'dont let them in' wave, then I remembered reading about pivotal points in history when America stopped letting immigrants/refugees in for various yet stupid reasons, lots of them being said in this thread...
