:what:

this wasn’t his sound when he came out, bruh made contemporary music and sold 15M worldwide out the gate, no label put money behind him on some “yea, you’re the one we want to do black music”, 24 magic was his lowest selling album, so it wasn’t to his benefit to go so throwback r&b/soul, but he’s an actual musician and lover of that music.

like I said, there’s a large segment of black folk who didn’t know or pay attention to him prior to that album and sound stupid making up these alt facts about him and his popularity
And it seems to me he came in the game trying to do what he wanted was getting pressure to do pop shyt, did the pop shyt, sold a lot of records, got clout with his record label AND then circled back to do what he wants. He played the long game and it actually worked.

I think you're 100% right

Case & point: My parents know who he is & never really paid attention to him for years. They were both professional musicians & my Pop's still is currently. Bruno drops 24 Magic & all of the sudden I see them listening to the song & my Pop's playing it on the guitar. Now they both listen to him because as my mother said he has a way of sounding old school with an updated sound which makes him appealing to their crowd

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis would be the nails in the coffin :wow:
I've seen the time and Morris day solo, Prince with the revolution, npg, Rick james with Mary Jane girls, teena Marie, MJ (bad, dangerous and history) George Clinton and P funk, new edition, debarge, culture club, Madonna (the virgin tour, blonde ambition, girlie show) , cameo.. Live!!!
Bruno Mars do not touch them one bit..

Yes I'm old.. 1970 was my birth.

Bruno dedicated his Album of the Year Grammy to Teddy Riley, Babyface and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
I would actually like to see this Verzuz as well. It would be a celebration of the best kind of R & B IMO.
Ehh, I wouldn't wanna see this happen. It's still the equivalent of all of the black rock and roll musicians doing a versus with Elvis :unimpressed:

Has Bruno worked with any of these producers? If not i'm suprised he hasn't yet.
