Nah, the story fell apart because they made character changes that changed absolutely nothing. They made Sub Zero and Scorpion brothers for no reason at all. They still ended up as rivals, but it was Kuai Liang vs. Bi Han as Scorpion and Sub Zero respevtively. Hanzo is still in the ending, but he's young. Made no sense. Kitana and Mileena are now biological sisters, which did away with what was a bloody rivalry, but still tension. They didn't explain Tarkat. They watered down the villains: Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Shao Kahn are no longer menacing. They set up Bi Han and he has main villain potential as Noob Saibot if executed correctly. He would be perfect to do away wifh the multiverse.

Where we disagree is the getting rid of Hanzo bit. They didn't get rid of him. He just wasn't part of the main story. I still think he becomes Scorpion and something happens to Kuai Liang.

But after the tournament claims its first victim, Onaga is resurrected in a weakened state, and as the tournament progresses Onaga grows stronger and stronger.

Rulers of the realms Dark Raiden, Liu Kang, and Kotal Kahn are shocked when allies begin to rebel. Their allies side with Onaga to attack Earthrealm, Netherrealm and Outworld at the same time. But why? Onaga is secretly working with Shang Tsung who is capturing and cloning kombatants to build Onaga's army.
Deadly Alliance Take 2
Raiden absorbs Shinnok's Evil which curses him. His battle against the Netherrealm escalates to the point where all across Earthrealm and Outworld, the dead rise to attack the living. Blaming Liu Kang for this, he retaliates against the Nethereralm. Earthrealm and the Netherrealm form an alliance to break the curse that Raiden has unleashed, but it's too late and a new shadow figure emerges.
The End of all Realities
An expanding rift in the fabric of time is destroying the realms. To save the realms, Dark Raiden and Kotal Kahn travel to the parallel universe where the rift originated. In this alternate universe, Shinnok leads Outworld, Shao Kahn protects Earthrealm, And Evil Raiden is the foe who created the rift. Kombatants join with parallel universe counterparts to defeat Evil Raiden.

Raiden executes Shinnok which provokes the wrath of Shinnok's father Kronikos, lord of Time. Kronikos merges together 3 eras: MK Past, MK Present, and an uncharted MK Future. Characters in all eras appear simultaneously in this time-merged world. To finish Raiden and his heroes, Kronikos unleashes deadly future killers and former heroes with vendettas against them. Raiden unites heroes of 3 different MK eras against the evil forces of Kronikos.

Crazy that NRS had big plans for Kortal in MK11 originally, but backpedaled in the final product.
I like the Dark Raiden declaring all out war as the MK11 story. I was hoping that is what we would get, but they scrapped it in favor of the timeline foolishness with Kronika. While I like the concept of the past vs present vs future given MK had mirror matches since MK1, I don't like how we got all these infinite timelines.

I actually liked the MK11 story outside of Hanzo being killed. The timequake scene is right up there with Sindel murdering everyone in MK9.
