On one hand, absolutely not I wouldn't have envisioned Karl Urban as Cage (i like the actor tho)... but on the other hand i don't know why we're pretending like Cage is some difference maker when the IP is built off the popularity of palette-swapped ninjas and excessive gore:mjlol:

Glen powell, ryan reynolds, chris evans, movie gon bomb regardless... unless they've made major changes to the fight scenes/choreography and the story is more than the same ol bs but now with Cage cracking jokes

Johnny cage getting killed at the very beginning of annihilation instantly killed my interest in the movie. Kinda helps the movie was the hottest of garbage. And I get why they killed him off, but it was still stupid. Not having a Johnny cage in any of the 3 variants until Trilogy was also really fukking stupid. Daniel posina got them so fukking mad they damn near blackballed the character and replaced him with trash like kabal and Stryker. I think a lot of people underestimate how popular the character was and just how much the games and first movie did to elevate the character because it's been so long.

These execs fukk up what should be layups.

The 95 movie said, let's take this popular ass fighting game and do a movie like Enter the Dragon. Make the fight scenes dope and we're good.

Execs for this movie said, "let's create a brand new character to act as an audience stand in and focus on him so they can learn how everything works.":dahell:

Might've been in another thread but I mentioned being excited as fukk to see the movie, my pops took me and I was :dwillhuh: 2 minutes into the movie and then frustrated for the rest of it. Young as hell but I knew the shyt just felt off, especially compared to the first part. Best part of the day is going to the arcade at the theater and playing NFL Blitz for the first time.

I’m saying, it’s fine if Johnny was your favorite character growing up but fukk all the bullshyt and cap :mjlol:

He’s literally the court jester of the crew; a tertiary trope character serving as walking white privilege to give white folks someone “relatable” to cling to in an IP centered on Asian folks :dead:

When the movie bombs again, I just hope they don’t use Urban’s casting as a built in excuse. And like I said they better be working overtime to improve everyone’s cotdamn kung fu
