Y'all also ignoring credibility. Please look at Scott Adkins filmography of absolute b list tubi movies, and getting beat up by real stars, that he would be able to greenlight this movie? Clearly this is a bigger release than 1...

I just fukking hate "looks-the-part" fantasy casting by nerds before a movie comes out when it almost always unequivocally works as intended.

We're in here talking about kicking ability? :snoop:

Van Damme was gonna be Cage originally and you're telling me there's a massive gap in talent?

They're all the same acting wise. At least Adkins can convincingly kick unlike Urban

They're really not. :mjlol:

If you're talking about a low to mid-low straight to streaming movie, sure. One of these guys is about as good as another. The plots are so basic, and the protagonists' characters are so basic and nondescript that minimal work, if any, would need to be done to adjust around one guy or another, and it doesn't matter because the stakes are so low in regards to budget.

But when you're talking about current big budget movies, studios aren't going for that. They'd much rather get a more skilled actor that can carry the 80% of the movie where the character isn't fighting, and use stuntwork and the same camera work the industry has been using for decades to cover for the other 20% in hopes of drawing a larger audience.

For better or worse, "It's got the guy from 'The Boy's in it," is far more likely to sell tickets than "It's got the guy from Accident Man in it." And besides, it's a movie about a video game franchise where the two flagship characters are a ninja that can freeze shyt, and an undead adjacent ninja with a catchphrase with what are effectively handheld harpoons and fire powers. Gritty realism and high level martial arts isn't really what they're going for here. :mjlol:

Name one actor outside of Jax and Scorpion that have a halfway decent name and get back to me. Oh yes that's right Sub-Zero, a real martial artist

Are you suggesting if they had some of the guys in the Raid flicks in these movies you wouldn't lose your mind

That's why John Wick has been so successful cuz they put people who actually have to talent to do the role

That casting choice for Raiden is terrible.
Checking it out as there is no way it can be as bad as the first and Cole insertion. They only showed him and that weak armor for 1 second in the trailer :mjlol:

Not feeling it. I liked the one they did a few years back and the Subzero/Scorpion movie.

😂 At Karl Urban being in the same planet as Reeves.

The first movie in 95 had nobody you recognized in it and was dope.

This is 2025

The property sells more than the star in it.

I'M SURE PEOPLE SKIPPED SUPERMAN BECAUSE THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE LEAD ACTOR
what does that have to do with John Wick being sold on Keanu Reeves? And suddenly we're talking about the drawing power of SUPERMAN. Its fukking SUPERMAN.

ya know what, you've completely lost the plot and are clearly just focused on last word and scoring points even if you now have no thread of what you're talkinga bout, so i'm done here.

It's pretty fukkin simple man

Karl Urban HAS ZERO to make this bigger draw its Mortal Fukkin Kombat

He's already over fukkin 50, has no martial arts background to speak of and "throw in generic poor man's Van Damme" and it would be much fukkin better. From a fan standpoint someone who had a marital arts background meant they were serious with Johnny fukkin Cage (who was based on Van Damme)

At least Keanu had The Matrix training under his belt. Name ONE role Urban has to suggest he'll be remotely believable fighting high level hand to to hand combat. He's literally going to look like Matt Damon did in the Bourne movies a bunch of quick cutaways where it's obvious that a stunt double took place

Not a fukkin soul knew who Robin Shou or Linden Ashby was (which was originally gonna be Brandon Lee) and it's much more believable. At least Ashby was a fukkin black belt.

The idea you need a high level thespian for this role is hilarious. Mortal Kombat is Enter the Dragon meets Big Trouble in Little China. Real fukkin high level acting in those flicks :mjlol: (which I love btw)

You literally have to

- look impressive doing martial arts
- crack a funny one liner
- and look in shape with a cutoff or shirt off

Aka Adkins or Moussi

I mean shyt you got Taslim a Judo champion as Sub-Zero and Hyroyuki (a world-class martial artist) as Scorpion but it's ok to have a non martial artist as Johnny Cage 🤣. Even Lewis Tan awful acting ass is legit.

🤣 At wanting Urban over this dude
