Mortal Kombat fighting engine.. why is it trash ?

Can anyone explain why they've never got something as good as tekken or soul caliber ? I meant their engine or animations are pure trash.

This is why i liked soul calibur the best. You have to rely on pure skill and psychogical programming instead of launchers that take off damn near half your life bar. Juggling is probably one of the worst things to happen to fighting games.
