Remember he was hanging with Dame Dash and worked on his whole Black ROC project?

No doubt!

I used to see him at Dame's spot back then, all the time.

This was during the DD172 days. Dame was letting a lot of rappers actually live in the studio and art gallery, back then, lol. So Mos, Spitta and Ski Beatz would be there damn near daily. This was around like 2010. Mos was making a lot of music with Ski at the time. Really dope sh*t. I still have a nice amount of the stuff they did, but of course, they never officially put anything out.

Def gotta disagree with some people here. I think Mos has a strong catalog. The New Danger is a dope album. Not all of the conscious rappers went left and nailed it (see: Common) but to me Mos def did with that album. It's a nice mixture of different sounds and while it's a mess in some ways, the songs are strong. And I really love True Magic. Yes, it got terrible reviews but that shyt was great to me.

I think we all agree The Ecstatic was great.

Oh i thought both True Magic and The New Danger had some gems on them too but compared to BOBS and The Ecstatic, they ain’t his best material

Mos Def becomes a household name if he drops a follow-up album in the 01-02 timeframe... he was already getting recognized for acting and his debut album. Like others have said, he has the whole package as an MC, and his charisma on the mic would've blown him up.

Facts

He probably got a good 5 to 7 albums he sitting on lol

Thing is, I don’t even know if he has a deal now.

So that might be another reason why we ain't getting new sh*t, lol. He probably needs to find a label to drop his projects on. But I also think he doesn't like the business and might not want to deal with any of that anymore. Mos is so weird, you never know.

Yeah I was wondering what label him and Alchemist are working with to put out their project

He probably dont have a solo deal no more

I think that’s one aspect of it, he got tired if the business and playing the game, with both music and acting

With touring, he can still do what he loves and get laid without having to deal with the business aside from promoters

Facts.

Mos drives me crazy because I've never seen an MC with his level of talent make more bizarre ass decisions, lol.

He was in a mad unique position of being both underground and kinda mainstream. He really could've done whatever he wanted and had the backing to run sh*t with the music. He dropped the ball crazy. I'm sure he knows that though.
Canibus says hi.
